The only reason he's given that moniker is because he fights out of America and generates decentish money.
And even that is up for debate given his last few fights "revenue" has been in the $30-60m range, the promoters are getting absolutely rinsed by Cinnamon unless they've just accepted he is a loss leader to entice others to their outfit.

That would be losing money not generating it, hence why I said he's a loss leader.
Or how did I in the aforementioned post prove Europeans travel "for" Canelo!? Which has never happened.
Unless you're counting the vast majority of Mexicans who are mainly of European ancestry in that "traveling group".
At best a site-fee from Vegas might actually put them in the black in his recent fights with similar revenue, which is sad to say the least when you're allegedly dealing with "the face".Last edited by Boro; 09-12-2024, 11:05 AM.

Canelo looks like an Elvis impersonator and the jealousy is palpable. I don't think much about his circus, Berlango is just the guy he's going to saw in half, but its in Vegas baby. When they hit the light switch in Riyadh all the lights go out. Not Vegas.

Yeah, great way to surpass leyends...
1. Canelo vs. Mungia (2024): Canelo -525, Mungia +380
2. Canelo vs. Charlo (2023): Canelo -400, Charlo +300
3. Canelo vs. Ryder (2023): Canelo -1800, Ryder +900
4. Canelo vs. GGG III (2022): Canelo -500, GGG +375* (40 years old version)
5. Canelo vs. Bivol (2022): Canelo -425, Bivol +325
6. Canelo vs. Plant (2021): Canelo -1000, Plant +650
7. Canelo vs. Saunders (2021): Canelo -700, Saunders +500
8. Canelo vs. Yildirim (2021): Canelo -5000, Yildirim +1400
9. Canelo vs. Smith (2020): Canelo -700, Smith +450
10. Canelo vs. Kovalev (2019): Canelo -450, Kovalev +325 (36 years old version)
My question is, isn't that a reflex of the level of his opposition? In how many 100-150-200-250 odds favorite fight he has been or worst, how many times has he beaten the odds? The biggest names in this list, were past their primes.
I think Canelo has been blessed with the built of the light heavyweight/cruiser weight but with the heigh of Junior Welterweight. So, instead of be fighting in the Beterbiev and Bivol world, ppl seen pleased with him fighting 147 and 154 guys because "its fair, Canelo is a short guy"
I don't know, maybe Im just old school but I don't like fight with that big discrepancy in the betting odds.joseph5620 likes this.
