  • Comments Thread For: Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez: The greatest hits

Since the age of 15, Saul "Canelo" Alvarez has gradually fought his toughest potential opponents, and in the two defeats he has recorded from his 65 professional contests, lost partly because the two fights he agreed to - against Floyd Mayweather and Dmitry Bivol - were somewhat ill-advised.

Got to love boxing culture — taking a fight that you’re not guaranteed to win is “ill-advised.” Funny because of all the things for which I admire Canelo, and I don’t admire him much at all, those two fights top the list. They say to me that hiding in there somewhere is an athlete who simply wants to prove that he is the best. If only he let it our more often…

The Bivol fight only became ill-advised afterward. The odds before the fight showed that many didn't believe that to be the case.

How much they're paying you for this article? Do you think the real fans don't know canelo? You should be ashamed of yourself by not giving the new fans the inside in all of those fights you mentioned, the PEDS, the gifted fights and the boxers way past their prime he fought, including ggg and kovalev.

Including the Khan fight invalidates this entire list. The 3rd GGG fight was a money grab.

This is honestly a shameful greatest hits list for someone who believes he’s an all time great. The two best wins were fights that he arguably shouldn’t have even won which were the ggg rematch and Lara.

No mention of this type of stuff from canelo over the years, badou jack summed it up well lol

“I won’t be fighting Canelo next,” stated Jack in the social media post. “They said the weight difference is too much, they wanted to drain the old man and fight me 20lbs UNDER the cruiserweight limit for the title .. Plus a rehydration clause. Canelo let’s give the fans what they want to see and fight David Benavidez.”

canelo even put a hydration clause on rocky fielding lol, doh

And here, ladies and gentlemen, is the response you get by all the Canelo apologist when they have no real counter arguments to defend Canelo. "You are a hater" or "You are jealous" or "Canelo is laughing to the bank".

Should of lost to GGG the first fight ran from him all night, drained kovalev that went life and death with Anthony yard, amir khan a welterweight that got exposed by Danny garcia, Caleb plant unexperienced with 1 title defense and can't punch through went paper towel, lost to bivol every round and only fought him cause he didn't look good his 2 fights prior, callum Smith drained and never fought at 168 again, Billy Joe a good fighter at 160 but at 168 barly got that title win against coceres, lost to Lara, John ryder a journey man, chavez jr a punching bag, first title win was against ricky Hattons brother that he dragged up to 154 from 147, mungia only 3rd fight at 168 last held a belt at 154 against a fluke champion Sadam Ali, cotto small and damaged goods, Shane mosley small and on the way out. He's now fighting a guy at his prime in berlanga that has no championship experience and never won a belt and will also weigh 25 pounds heavier then him. Canelo has a well manufactured guided career with his All smoke and mirrors pampered resume.
