Comments Thread For: Yoshiki Takei digs deep in the last round to outpoint brave Daigo Higa

Yoshiki Takei retained his WBO bantamweight title via close 12-round unanimous decision over the plucky, and perhaps unlucky, Daigo Higa. The scores - 115-112 and 114-113 (twice) - told the story of how close this contest was as Takei recovered from a knockdown scored against him in the 11th to repel his game challenger in a one-sided last round and secure victory.

That was a really fun fight.
Weird collapse in the 12th Round by Higa.
He all of a sudden had nothing left, unless the volume punching by Takei really took the fight out of him.
    Kinda hard to tell.

Great fight. Thought Higa stole it with the 10-8 round. Give credit to Takei for how he fought the 12th.

Takei really showed a champion's heart in the 12th.
It wasn't a competitive round at all.
If Higa could keep from getting steamrolled like that I thought he would have won.

Takei had some pop and used his reach well, but I didn't like the amount of holding from him, and didn't expect it from a Japanese fighter. Better watch that low right hand against southpaws too.

On the other hand, he dug deep like a winner in Round 12.

Higa seemed to fall back beginning in the second half on the 11th.

He definitely shot his load. He was clinging for life the whole 12th.
