He may as well go all out you never know 1-10000 punch lands like Ruiz against Joshua and boom upset.
I KNOW for a fact that Berlanga has the general public and even the commentators shaking their head at the fact that he got this opportunity and I’m sure part of his demeanor and his smack-talking is him having a huge chip on his shoulder. I would, too if everyone wasn’t giving me a shot. But Berlanga is straight-up jumping into the deep end of the pool headfirst and leaning into full villainy like mad villainy. He’s embracing the heel and that’s good for promotion. His credibility gets torpedo’d afterwards in the loss. It’s front-loaded. He’s going all in and not being humble. He wants people to turn out. Bless his heart.
If he goes out on his shield and actually gives a damn and puts out an effort (even if it’s not effective), he may win over some fans. As it stands right now, his lukewarm performances have not given me any inkling into believing he’s going to go for broke like Andy Ruiz vs. Joshua, Juan Diaz vs. Marquez, or Maidana vs. Floyd in the first fight.
And if he does, he’s going to back off after 3 rounds once those counters start doing that typical bonus damage that comes from not seeing the punches.
I like Canelo by stoppage somewhere in the 8th-9th.
If Berlanga beats Canelo by decision, I’m going to be salty.
If Berlanga ices Canelo, it’s going to be more painful to me than when Cotto lost to Margarito on July 26, 2008.Last edited by TintaBoricua; 08-29-2024, 09:58 AM.

Berlanga trying to pull a Juan Diaz would be like me jumping into a 2005 Nissan Sentra, getting up on the freeway and trying to floor it at 80 mph. Is it going to get up there? Yes. Is the car going to start shaking like it’s convulsing? You bet your ass it will.
It’s going to be shaking and trembling like a spaceship trying to enter lightspeed…on the verge of completely disintegrating.

Berlanga is SO LIMITED as a fighter that Crawford would stop him. Crawford via body shot TKO. In fact, **** it. If Berlanga wins and gets Canelo’s straps, Crawford is going to have the EASIEST route to become unified champion at 168.
Oh, and it’s nice to think having a PR fighter who talks trash should be in (cause the attention), but there’s a teeny tiny problem with Berlanga:
When you talk trash, and back it up…you become a villain.
When you talk trash, and CAN’T back it up…you become a clown. Berlanga is going to turn into the latter.
And when you become the clown, the shtick gets old quick: Broner, Mayorga, etc.

Boxing needs a Rican fighter who talks trash and Kos people. It's always had that. It's good for the sport. Of course if you are Canelos pedigree you gonna think it's an easy win. We will see.

Granted, he's getting a massive paycheck, so he won't feel too bad about it, but his future drawing power will probably take a massive hit.

Same. People bring up his 11 fights like he’s a bum or something. He’s not going to have mainstream appeal, but it’s irrelevant. The guy is a super tricky fighter and I’d also pick him to EASILY beat Fundora, Spence, and Charlo. Tsyzu I think it’d be competitive. But he outclasses the other three.

And I dunno, but Crawford is a boxer who takes pride, currently, in being a boxer....and not an exhibition joke. As undefeated as Floyd is, he's not in my top 10 fighters of all time list. After he beat DLH, he stopped daring to be great.
Bud dares to be great. I hope he does get that fight with Canelo next....so the world can be entertained. This fight can go either way in my opinion....but I'm giving the edge to Crawford.
