Comments Thread For: Ziyad Almaayouf's draw changed to a win after Michal Bulik tests positive

Ziyad Almaayouf's Aug. 3 majority draw with Poland's Michal Bulik has been changed to a disqualification win in the Saudi Arabian's favor after banned substances were found in two separate samples from Bulik following VADA testing, according to the California State Athletic Commission.

I don't recall it ever happening before that a fighter was given a win because their opponent failed a test. But the one time it happens, it's on the first Saudi card in the US, and the decision is in favour of Saudi fighter...

      Jack against Bute.

I agree though, it’s very convenient.

How many times has this happened after a Draw? It's one thing to award the DQ Win after a draw, it's another to do so after somebody like Haney had the living crap beaten out of him.

Haney will lose his next fight, against whoever it is, because their know Haney can be rocked, and is now fearful of being rocked again.

I'll always give credit to Haney for getting back up, but that may be to his detriment one day.

Strange one. I actually think this is a good way to go rather than a no contest. The clean athlete gets punished like the fight never happened. Ryan Garcia takes an L for example is a bigger punishment than a year out. At his level he only fights once a year anyway.
