  • Comments Thread For: Imane Khelif and the desperate need for governance

JK Rowling screamed 'brutal injustice', multiple half-baked reports were published on websites and even broadcast on news bulletins, and before we knew it a man had beaten up a woman inside a boxing ring.

When in doubt, leave them out. Regardless of everything that this article says, if there are any doubts whatsoever to one's gender, it's in the best interest to not let that athlete compete, especially in boxing. We're talking about punching each other in the face, not bowling.

My initial reaction based off of superficial impressions was this was a dude. Myopic of course but a visceral reaction. Upon reading into the IBA and IOC’s involvement as well as her background. I’m inclined to believe that she is who she is. Pictures of her as a child as well as growing up in Algeria where they don’t recognize transgender and gender affirming care, the IBAs lack of transparency in testing methodology in regards to disqualifying her so that their Russian prospect could retain her unblemished record, and the IBA’s history of corruption are all important pieces of context to this story.

Trans women can be competing with women athlete. That’s my opinion. Even after transitioning there’s some physical advantage, most men will absolutely batter women. Looking at her amateur record, her percentage of stoppages is pretty low. Just another thing to consider

This isn't a question of gender.
Imane was born as a little girl.
The problem is her physical advantages.
This is a similar case to runner Caster Semenya.
Some women are born with XY chromosomes
        or naturally more testosterone.
And no one knows what to do when these women compete against women without these natural advantages.
It sucks, because it's like we're saying they aren't women,
but those natural advantages still have to be regulated.

And this is what it boils down to. That is an advantage.

Despite having male chromosome consequence of an hormonal alteration, she still borned a woman and identifies herself as one, I dont think there is a real significant advantage as her record shows ,she already has been beaten by other women and KO % pretty low ,imo any advantage of hers is just like being taller or having longer reach advantage. I hope she wins gold medal just for the all wrongful, bad intended, and ignorant scrutiny she has been subject to.

The platforms that spread this misinformation are the same platforms that spread misinformation that will tell you Harris and some putz from MN, who's city burned to the ground during the George Floyd riots,...are the saviors of the United States.

i read that XY chromosone women have testosterone levels that allow them to punch 60% harder than biologically normal women. That is a massive advantage and more to the point - a very dangerous advantage.

This is all about a woman born with heightened testosterone, she is who she is. She didn't take PEDs, she isn't a trans person, she just exists and chose to be a fighter.

I don't know where the line should be drawn for the advantages someone is born with, because we watch pro athletes like that all the time.

Lots of misinformation and disinformation around this story online and lots of L takes on it too.

the problem is noone knows what the hell she is, does she have X this X that, there is no clarity because the IOC are afraid to offend anyone and have people in charge who defend this at all costs, she has clearly been improving in recent years bigtime & her physique and performances are different than before thats clear if u watch the footage, she looks very very manly to me & it looks like there is something with her and she has shown up issues in the past in 2 or more tests brushed under the carpet of course, no smoke without fire im sure but wont make any difference everyone is afraid to cause an issue these days, feel sorry for her opponents i would say, having higher levels of testos and whatever else she has would not be allowed in mens sports as vada would flag it but its ok in womens boxing
