Comments Thread For: Is Terence Crawford willing to open up to become a crossover star?

The doubts about Terence Crawford against Israil Madrimov on Saturday in Los Angeles were few, and ultimately he showed why. Yet a lingering question about the new four-division champ remained.

I don't think last night did him any favours for building himself as any form of brand

His first real headline show as the clear A-side with a huge budget behind the shower and he laboured his way to debatable gift win. At best he should've gotten a draw. The crowd was clearly unhappy with the lack of action, even though some boxing purists probably enjoyed it.

The casual fans won't have been impressed. People hyped up Crawford as if he is this unbeatable force that destroys anyone in his path, basically they want him to be what Inoue is, but he's not.

Don't get me wrong, Crawford is excellent but I think quite a few casuals will have lost interest.

He’s too old for that now, he does t have many fights left at his age. And he was never a guy with a personality. He opened up a bit leading up to the Spence fight when he got into it with Spence’s family members and he just sounded like a two bit dime store hood. He’s not Sugar Ray Leonard. Very few boxers these days can be

I'm confused, this guy is a star in boxing?

Crossover star?! Dude has zero personality, arrogant, and travels with the most ****** crowd you could ever run with, if not for Turki he's begging Spence for a rematch to get paid!

I like Crawford but he will never be a crossover star. What I have noticed is that he boxes very carefully and rarely fights with urgency. He only does it when he feels that he must or when his corner urges him to. Yest he always has an extra gear when needed. If he stepped on the gas earlier in his career and took a more risky approach in his fights maybe he would have been more popular, but that is not his personality. He just wants to win at all costs and is not willing to take too much risk to keep scoring highlight real ala Mike Tyson (and yet he has the capability to do it).
