This guy Walsh is over-hyped - he's right up there with Ben Whitaker for being a hype-storm - any time they are promoting off nationality be su****ious

Please, Please do not overlook 8-0-7kos Jordan Panthen at 154lbs, who fights a very tough 8-2 Victor Toney June 20th on the Fight Club OC show and it will air live on Triller.tv

Do some Americans build their whole personas around being around being Irish-American or Italian-American or whatever?

If you're anyway halfway decent Irish boxer you would absolutely have to fight out of New York City or Boston, surely.

He’s also training with Freddie Roach, don’t forget.

I'm not saying he's not a good fighter but he's being hyped like he's an elite fighter and i don't think he is. Freddie still needs to get paid and he will do with this guy because he'll be positioned for titles due to the promotional push - same deal happened with Mick Conlan to a certain extent and Xander Zayas and that PR punk who threw his gf body of a bridge in PR. This is one of the tropes of boxing - repeated over and over again by the promoters - look to tap in to small but passionate ethnic or local boxing fan communities

and if it's not ethnic groups it's personalities. Step forward Rolly Romero and take a bow

The Irish have traditionally always supported boxing. Same as Puerto Ricans and Mexicans etc.

What’s wrong with that? No different than the Brits hyping their domestic matchups.

Saw that fight on the schedule, looking forward to it, but I doubt many on here will subscribe to TrillerTV to watch

Ben isn't hyped based on his nationality though? It's his style and the fact he was a Silver medallist.

Walsh is doing that. They all do pretty much. But it always ends the same way.

Hmm. I didn't say Ben is being hyped off his nationality. Just that his level of hype is at the same level as Walsh. If Whit. was regarded as an elite talent he would be being stepped up a lot faster - the fact he isn't being stepped up so fast tells me they hype is ahead of his talent at this present time. Maybe his results will catch up with the hype as time passes but for now, in my opinion, the hype is ahead of the results so that is why I say he is over-hyped.
