Zepeda has made himself a must-see attraction and I can't wait for the Cabrera fight. I wanna know how tough is that dog in him when he's not rolling downhill. Maybe Cabrera isn't the guy to make him answer that question but hopefully soon after we'll get to see.

Arum Claims Golden Boy Rejected Shakur Stevenson Fight Offer For Zepeda
      By Chris Williams - 03/30/2024
      Boxing News 24

Promoter Bob Arum says his company contacted Golden Boy Promotions to try to put together a fight between Top Rank fighter Shakur Stevenson and lightweight contender William Zepeda, but they expressed no interest. Arum wanted to make the Shakur-Zepeda fight after hearing Golden Boy boss Oscar De La Hoya say he wanted to make the fight between them following Zepeda’s victory over Maxi Hughes. However, when Arum’s Top Rank company attempted to make that fight, they were met with a roadblock, with Golden Boy supposedly saying, “He’s not ready...”

Arum Unleashes on De La Hoya

“When [William] Zepeda won his fight [against Maxi Hughes], it was Oscar De La Hoya who said, ‘Bring on Shakur.’ We called them and said, ‘Everybody heard Oscar. Shakur’s ready to fight your guy.’ It was, ‘Ah, he’s not ready yet,’ and all that s***,” said promoter Bob Arum to the media last Friday night about Golden Boy boss Oscar De La Hoya not being serious about letting his fighter, lightweight contender William Zepeda, fight WBC champion Shakur Stevenson.

“Let me tell you something – if you take a lightweight and have them fight Shakur, it’s like sentencing them to death. Because nobody can beat Shakur,” Arum continued.

Don’t say ****** things that you’re not going to back up. Now, if he wanted that kid [William Zepeda] to fight Shakur, it’s okay to say that, and then we would have probably made the match. But don’t say it if you have no intention of putting this kid in with Shakur.”

Shakur Stevenson Accuses Oscar De La Hoya of Bad-Faith Dealings on Possible William Zepeda Fight
        BY BEN BLACKWELL
Published Thu Mar 28, 2024, 11:22 PM EDT

Lightweight titleholder Shakur Stevenson has accused Golden Boy Promotions chairman and CEO Oscar De La Hoya of using his name to benefit the promoter’s own fighter, William Zepeda, despite no offer of a matchup between the two fighters being immediately forthcoming.

Zepeda (30-0, 26 KOs) was recently in action March 16 against Maxi Hughes, defeating the Englishman in the fourth round.

After the fight, De La Hoya alluded to having contacted Stevenson’s representatives to discuss the possibility of a matchup with Zepeda, which Stevenson (21-0, 10 KOs) has stated he is open to exploring.

A post on De La Hoya’s X social media account read: “Shakur, you said nobody wants to fight you. Well, check out William Zepeda on Saturday night on DAZN. He is begging me [that he wants] to fight you.”

Stevenson responded with a post on his own X account, suggesting that De La Hoya had used the fighter’s profile in bad faith and accusing him of backtracking on a Zepeda fight that Stevenson seemingly believes had been proposed:

“Yooo oscardelahoya, I still haven’t heard anything yet about Zepeda fighting me on July 6. How can you say my name over and over and not make the fight happen next? Were you using me to promote your fighter fight or?”

De La Hoya responded with a post insisting that Zepeda was set to make a quick return, and that the promoter would be in touch with Stevenson’s representatives later in the year about a possible matchup with his fighter:

“Zepeda is fighting soon for the second time this year, I’ll talk to your promoter third quarter of this year.”

"Death Sentence". The only thing he killed was his Career running the Indy 500 in the ring vs De Los Santos.

Yet Zepeda don't want smoke! Tell Zepeda to run to see the Wizard, for some courage!

He is not ready to Run 500 laps around the ring. Shakur still in the Olympic track team. Shakur only makes low balls offers and calls other ducks.

"Shakur is a young fighter, a fighter that we are going to follow, if he also goes up in weight at some point, we are similar in age, our bodies are going to change and maybe it won't be at 135 [lbs], maybe it will be 140, but I'm sure that in the future that fight will happen.” -William Zepeda

                He's still swerving him! LMAO!

LMAO, he will need to chase his running ass. Stop Lying he clearly says he ask Oscar for the fight. Shakur doesn't want no smoke. He is the weakest of all the Champions, he is feather-fisted and couldn't keep De Los Santos from chasing his ass.

Typical GBP bu!!shyte. Oscar talks a good game but when it comes time to put quality fights together, they seldom get made. It’s kinda strange, during his heyday Oscar was more than willing to fight quality fights. I wish he had the same confidence in his stable.
