Comments Thread For: You Can't Bully Usyk - Amir Khan

RIYADH - Amir Khan fears Tyson Fury has come in too light for his undisputed heavyweight title fight against Oleksandr Usyk. The most significant heavyweight fight for 25 years will be contested on Saturday evening at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, between Fury when he is at his lightest for five years, and Usyk after the Ukrainian weighed in at a career-heaviest.

People talking as if Fury lost 50 lbs. and is a walking skeleton. To me he looks more muscular than previously/ and in the best shape he's ever been in. Of course that doesn't mean he will win or that his cardio is better...,but it might be an indicator.

Fury is still much larger than Usyk. That hasn’t changed. The big man will impose his size advantage. After a number of rounds of having that huge body hanging on him, Usyk, who’s coming in heavier than ever, will start to wear down. Tyson is a smart fighter, and he’ll use every advantage at his disposal to handle his worthy but smaller opponent.

He probably did, he's admitted to losing 6-7 stone (84-98 pounds, 38-44kg) in multiple camps he's a slob when he's not fighting.

I don't think Fury is as physically strong as Usyk. He's not going to lift or push as much weight in the gym as Usyk no doubt does.

Fury is bigger, not stronger, and fighting on the inside will favour Usyk, if he doesn't let Fury just lean all his weight on him for long periods.

The thing is, Fury has always said his fat has helped him absorb punches.
Body shots had no effect on him because of it.
Now it could have an effect and could affect his stamina and movement, especially in the second half of the fight.

Buffer ****ed up. Usyk didn’t come in heavy.

We've all heard the expression "a good big man beats a good little man"

Of course this can't be an absolute predicter but there's probably some truth in it.
What's interesting about Usyk is that he beat Joshua twice as the Little Man and that makes the Fury fight that much more intriguing.

These objective measurements don't always transfer into the ring though, especially at HW. You don't need to bench more etc to be a total pain in the ring, leaning, holding, pushing down. Being a heavy mf is just as much of a problem.

'Reach' is also another usually meaningless stat unless there is a big difference, then it comes down to the boxer actually using it to their advantage in the ring, which often falls flat.
