"Word on the ground in Las Vegas is that Saul “Canelo” Alvarez’s next opponent will be Edgar Berlanga."
Ugghhh. Whatever.
Boxing does this all the effing time.
Please don't add insult to injury by making this a PPV event.factsarenice likes this.

Not too long-ago boxing settled supremacy in the ring. Fighters could NOT simply hire their opponents to protect their legacy and sanctioning bodies didn’t deliberately ignore wrongdoings for cash.
Today the sport of boxing has a sickness and glorifying that sickness only helps spread a disease that’s killing it’s host.

Sorry. Canelo can't be the face of boxing and can't even sell out on Cinco De Mayo (the day HE chooses to fight) against a FELLOW MEXICAN, in a region that is SURROUNDED by cities with heavy Mexican/Mexican American populations. That's like Tank fighting on Juneteeth or Martin Luther King Day in LA, Atlanta, or B-More and there's empty seats. Ain't happening. And I'm not a Canelo hater or Tank fan-boy. This is purely observational.
While I'm at it, boxing needs to get itself together with practices that are dumb at worst, questionable at the least. The homie and I went to the Boxing Expo during the day, with full plans to watch the Canelo/Munguia fight at some viewing party/closed circuit event later that evening. We start with the MGM Grand, which held the contract for the fight. Right when I get to the Concierge at the hotel, he informs me that they just received word that closed circuit TV is off, because the fight didn't sell out. So essentially, there's no way to watch the fight at the casino that is promoting the fight because the fight didn't' sell out. SAD.
So we walk over to the T-Mobile Arena just for kicks just to see how much it would be to get in the building. This is roughly two to three minutes after the card started, 5 PM MST/PST. It was a muted atmosphere the entire time we walked over. We get to the ticket counter, and we're informed that it's $400 for the cheapest seats. $400. After the event has started. For the event that is not sold out. For the face of boxing. Let it all sink in.
Long story short, there only appeared to be two places from my exploration/investigation that had the fight on in the Vegas area (Circa, and Game On Boulder Station). We ended up watching the fight on my MacBook in our hotel room being only five blocks away from where the fight was actually happening. Not to mention the UFC card was on EVERY casino sports book we walked through.
This is such a great sport, but the rate and level of idiocy that permeates the business end is mind boggling.
