Comments Thread For: Will We Ever See the Best of Canelo Alvarez Again?

Jaime Munguia is the latest opponent tasked with finding out exactly what Saul "Canelo" Alvarez has left when he challenges the world super middleweight champion in Las Vegas' T-Mobile Arena on Saturday night. Though it would be stretching the truth to suggest that Alvarez needs an impressive win to keep his career alive - the latest comeback of 57-year-old Mike Tyson proves there's nearly always life (of sorts) in famous old dogs - it's nonetheless difficult to shake the feeling that we're witnessing his decline; the legs have lost some bounce, the eagerness to please has faded and the tail doesn't wag quite like it used to.

"In doing so, we’ll likely get a reminder of the fighter he used to be but ultimately more evidence of the fighter he’s destined to become."

So we'll see... the fighter he is...?

Didn't we hear all of this when Martinez faced Chocolatito? Chocolatito was too old faded high mileage- ripe for the taking - this is just media selling an average fight nobody was asking for

Canelos wins are based on his ****ty ass resume full of shot, old and small fighters. Guy is a ****ing drug cheat and he proved there are zero rules in boxing.

I can see canelo calling out Beterbiev late this year.

Saudis will make it happen. Beterbiev is old and shot enough now, Canelo beats him and vacates the belts saying: it is not my weight class.

Kidding, right? We'll see what Beterbiev is when he meets Bivol. Considering Beterbiev's level, he's nowhere near old enough or shot enough for Canelo to even consider. Canelo is still having nightmares v Bivol.
