LAS VEGAS - As soon as Spanish singer Leiva's guitar strummed starting Isaac "Pitbull" Cruz's walk-in, something about boxing changed. The crowd went wild, a transforming 140-pound title victory over Rolly Romero seemed imminent and Mexico delivered the sport its latest champion from Central Casting. "Think about it," Cruz's enthusiastic manager Sean Gibbons urged. "There's Canelo. And there's 'Pitbull.'" Cruz's relentless, vicious attack wobbled Romero (15-2) early, left him on shaky feet and inhibited during the bout and set up a destructive eighth-round TKO that made Cruz - a third-generation boxer - the WBA super-lightweight champion.

'There's Canelo, And Then There's Pitbull'

Canelo at this stage of his career wants to 'cherry-pick', and is in it for the money.

Cruz at this stage of his career, wants to fight the best in who ever it is.

Both are promoted by PBC, along with Fundora.

No more competitive fights for 2024 for these 3.

Pitbull is now a megastar bc he whooped a guy with the goofiest style in history of world titlists? Dude is cool and all, but come on. He looks like a Mexican Sammy Gravano though, it's wild.

I think most boxing fans are just over Canelo cherry picking and making excuses for not fighting the toughest guys available.

Didn’t Cruz duck Shakur and we all know Canelo is shamelessly ducking Benavidez. I understand that on paper it looks good that Mexico has several world champions but if you know boxing, you know this is truly a weak era for Mexican boxing compared to the days of Barrera, morales and Marquez.

I don't get the comparison, the only thing they have in common is that they're Mexican, Canelo still has the best resume of any active fighter.

HAHAHHA HATERZ BIG MAD!!!! PBC found another diamond in the rough. 140 div is setting up nice and PBC once again gets the cash cow. Teo (TR) has no Honduran market in NYC and can't sell out a 4k seat arena. Matias (MR) left PBC but can't sell on an app no one is watching by a British guy who doesn't know how to sell a dark skin Puerto Rican in the western hemisphere. Devin (UFA) can't sell to his own natural fanbase because his loud mouth nappyhead daddy keeps talking shyte about Flkyd and Al. Now enter Pitbull. If he keeps winning he is going to be the heir apparent (not Ryan) to Canelo. Just like Devin (not Tank) was supposed to be the heir apparent to Floyd. Looks as though whatever div has a PPV cash cow in America they are aligning themselves with PBC. God bless Al Haymon. That wonderful man!!! Hahahaha bye haterz!!
