Jorge Diaz Shocks Yan Barthelemy By Knockout

In yet another shocker at the WaMu Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York, 2004 Olympic gold medal winner and highly regarded bantamweight prospect Yan Barthelemy (8-2, 1KOs) was stopped in the sixth and final round of his fight with unbeaten Jorge Diaz (10-0, 5KOs). It was a brawl with Diaz caught him with a left hook that knocked Barthelemy out cold a minute into the round. Barthelemy was down for a while but left the ring on his own.

Barthelemy was rediculously overrated from the start. Its always been obvious to me that he wasnt gonna be anything. He has no talent, and i truly mean that as harsh as it sounds

Not surprised. Barthelemy is another one in the line of failed Cuban prospects who did not take their sport seriously enough, or just weren't good enough. Odlanier Solis seems to be headed in that direction.

He has talent, he just doesn't have the physicality to make it in the pro-game. Even at his debut, he looked weak, and frail. I am surprised it took him this long to get KOed.

Jorge Diaz is no joke, I've been following him here in Jersey since his debut. He always comes to fight and puts lots of pressure on opponents. He was a top amateur in the state.
