Gennady Golovkin, Universum Trying To Line Up a Test

BoxingScene.com has learned that Universum is trying to line up a credible opponent, with a name, to test the talents of their rising middleweight prospect Gennady Golovkin (17-0, 14KOs) on an upcoming November show. I've heard they tried to get former WBC junior middleweight champion Sergio Mora, and recently tried to secure Ishe Smith. Golovkin is regarded as one of the best talents under Universum's promotional banner. He can certainly fight, and has talent, but at age 27 they need to push him a little faster in terms of competition.

Golovkin is much better than Zbik. It too bad he didn't have the opportunity to fight for that interim title.

They wouldn't let Huggy Zbik get within 50 miles of even a top 25 middleweight, let alone somebody who would KO him badly like Golovkin. Maybe they can line something up with Sylvester
