Comments Thread For: De La Hoya Shoots Down Teofimo Lopez's $1.5M Offer Claim, Instead Focused On Pitting Ryan Garcia With Haney-Prograis Winner

Teofimo Lopez Jr. claimed in recent days that he turned down a $1.5 million offer to fight Ryan Garcia. Lopez was coy on the terms of the offer, and who exactly presented the deal, but when Garcia promoter Oscar De La Hoya was asked to comment on the matter, he said there was no truth to the former lightweight champion's statements.

Queen Ryan is a waste of time for Teo. Teo needs legacy fights.

cryin has loads of options at 140 lol

its literally a sweet shop if he can do the business in the ring that is

i dont think he beats haney though so that could be a problem right there

i think he should go the rolly level route to find his groove at 140, unless of course hes not even confident of that one, i think he should be able to manage that level ok and then strike for a big one when the time is right

Haney has the ability to beat a guy while squeezing him like Romeo and Juliette. Haney is win win for Ryan. If Ryan loses he can claim he was touched up.

If someone were to ask me who was going to win this fight a week ago I’d of said Garcia and that it would be easy.
Now, I smell an upset. He seems off in the head.

maybe, or else maybe he already used that get out of jail card with tank & would then be forced to admit a 'legit' loss in his head

i really dont know if cryin needs to play it safe, maybe a fight with haney would be good alrite, cryins fans and casuals may stick with him if he puts in good performances even losing ones, who knows, he doesnt have that 0 anymore to protect

i cant see cryin in it for the long haul, he may need to get a few big fights paydays while he can, haney teo type of stuff, thats what oscar seems to be thinking anyway, cryin mentioned rolly, so maybe theres a conflict of how to proceed there as well

I never made Teofimo an offer,” De La Hoya told BoxingScene.com in an interview. “I sat down with his promoter Bob Arum and we discussed a percentage split and that was it. Never made him an offer.

Same difference IMO. Haney/Prograis winner might be a less dangerous fight.

The winner of Haney vs prograis should face Teofimo next. Ryan has accomplished nothing. If Ryan wants a title shot, let him try and fight Matias so we could see the end of Ryan once and for all.

Teo will beat down both Haney and Garcia on the same night. Both of these guys are trash and each promoter knows this.
