Something that Emmanuel Navarette said yesterday is food for thought for all fighters. He fought Conceiciao (SP?) injured and said that he out of respect for his career and his fans that he would never again give that advantage to his opponent. If you go into the ring injured and win , no problem , but if you do it and lose ,especially because of the injury, then you did it to yourself, foolishly. Garcia better think about that before he gives up weight concessions and fights injured in the future. No matter if it's true , most people will chalk it up to excuses from the loser. It's natural. Boxing is hard enough without giving advantages to the other man.

I hadn't heard that but it obviously makes a ton of sense. Dre Ward did his whole career like that & was among the most private boxers in this social media era & it worked out great for him. And with how brutal & even deadly this sport is they should do it more I'd argue.

I do think a lot of this is the nature of the beast tho. Ryan agreed to 136 & with an injury cuz the reward was worth it. Ryan probably 5x'd or more his net worth with that Tank fight.

Fans are looking at all this from a view with a massive blind spot & idk that a lot of fans grasp this is a business so if the $ is worth the risk fighting at a bad weight for you, with an injury or less time to prepare is the superior move than not taking a fight to avoid looking bad or losing. Boxers know some fans will sh^t talk them (hell even when they win not even when they lose lol), but the upside is good enough to deal with it.
