  • Comments Thread For: Mike Tyson on Fury-Ngannou: 'We Got a Performance That Even We Didn't Anticipate'

Not even Mike Tyson could foresee the enormous success Francis Ngannou had on Saturday night in an ultimately losing endeavor. Ngannou, the former UFC heavyweight champion, stunned viewers over the weekend when he dropped WBC heavyweight titlist Tyson Fury in the third round of their 10-round heavyweight affair that many critics had been referring to as a woeful mismatch. It was, moreover, Ngannou's debut in professional boxing.

Fury had issues with Ngannou's left. He carry it low but it fooled Fury thinking he can simply get over it. It was hard, and fast with range. Threw Fury's timing completely off.

Yeah Ngannou had pretty quick hands, for a guy who has a 6 pack at 270 freaking pounds, his hands are very quick

Mike is not a brilliant trainer and Ngannou is no world beater, Fury is just not very good.

I think Ruiz beats Ngannou easily.

Fury not looking good in a fight isn't something new, he didn't look great in the Wallin then beat Wilder pillar to post.

In the first Mcdermott fight he clearly lost he rectified public opinion by beating the absolute brakes off him in the rematch.

The only thing that was somewhat alarming/questionable about this fight is when he got dropped he didn’t go straight after Ngannou like he did Pajkic,Cunningham and Wilder and seemed content to dilly dally on the outside, which not only doesn’t fit his character it just seems extremely sus.

Ngannou performing well didn't surprise me at all, in fact it reminded me of Holyfield vs Tyson - one man had an obsession with his opponent since the amateurs and the other just saw him as an opponent.

But in this case, Ngannou has always wanted to box and every move he's made has been towards that goal and Fury just sees him as a pudding and switching mindset during a fight you expect to be a cake walk when the going gets tough isn't easy.

Quick, had timing for counterpunching and good balance. Did not expect him to be so patient and wait back a bit and have that type of ability.

I really thought that Fury was going to carry him, tire him out and then take him out.

Theyre already saying Wilders team is in talks with Ngannou, that didnt take long. Imo, Ngannou should go for the short money and fight a no hoper in the top 30. Most of Nagannous fans are MMA guys and want to see him KO someone so hes better off getting a big KO win to raise his stock. Ngannou can literally be the $ guy against Wilder.

Wilder hasn't beaten anyone in the top-10 for 5 years. And not really anyone that great before that. Fury's record is falling apart now. He's been exposed for what he always was - the same guy who lost to David Price and then forever after avoided anyone who might seem like a threat to him in the pros. Wilder was a brawler, Whyte was slow, Wlad retired next fight. Anyone who can box a bit and has courage beats up Fury easily.
