Comments Thread For: Bernard Hopkins Views Gervonta Davis as The Pound For Pound Best

No matter how many facts you pump into your argument, pound-for-pound lists are subjective. The boxing world is jam-packed with fantastic fighters and depending on what you prefer, your list can be shaped in a certain way.

"Because of how he executed Ryan Garcia."

Okay, but what had Garcia done to make that achievement particularly noteworthy?

Beating a contender makes you p4p king? And I thought unifying divisions and stuff like that mean something... I knew that IDKSAB.

Ryan Garcia was a decent win for Tank but only Bernard.thought Ryan had a chance. No one else in their right mind saw any other outcome. Ryan is doo doo. Tank is clearly among the best, but not because of beating Ryan "the metrosexual" Garcia

              No.

Ability wise, he could be good enough to be a p4p fighter but he's nearly 30 and hardly fought anyone.

I'm not interested in potential ability. Im interested in them proving it against top fighters. Teo fights the likes of Loma and Taylor. Haney fighting Loma and Prograis etc.

They're younger men than Tank and taking on bigger challengers, especially far bigger than Tank was at their age 5 years ago.

Tank has the ability to beat these guys but he doesn't seem to be making any noise about fighting them.

Remember when Floyd said he talked to Top Rank about Tank v Loma a few years ago and Tank took to twitter slating his own team and said "my promoters are trying to get me beat".

That told me all I need to know about him. Fantastic ability with no great desire to trust test it against the best.

that's not p4p no.1 material, no matter how good he can be in the ring and I'm a big fan of his skills.

P4P best!? he hasn't even beat anyone with a pulse, his best win is what Pedraza.

And Davis is getting up there in years, still doesn't seem to know which division he wants to be in, needs to get a move on with his career, it's laughable to imply he's even making the list let alone the best.

He could be P4P based on his ability but seemingly has no self belief to go against truly talented fighters, so you can never rate him unless you're being disingenuous.

Hopkins works for GBP who promote Garcia who lost to Tank.

That’s why he’s saying this BS.

Tank does have the ability to be a top end P4P fighter. The resume isn’t there yet though.
