Naoya Inoue will return to the arena where he claimed undisputed championship status with the hope of repeating history. The four-division champ is set for his full junior featherweight unification bout versus Philippines' Marlon Tapales. Their lineal, WBC, WBA, IBF and WBO championship is set for December 26 at Ariake Arena in Tokyo. ESPN+ will air the bout live in the early post-Christmas hours, as Inoue aims to become the sport's second male boxer to claim undisputed status in two weight divisions.

To become undisputed at 118lbs to then move up knockout the number 1 guy at 122lbs and then more tha. Likely become undisputed again at 122lbs all in 12 months Is crazy.

And he won't be fighting a damaged and drained guy to become 2X Undisputed.

He has all the potential to clean out 126 as well. Epic stuff.

Or having held the division hostage with 1 lone belt for over 5 years fighting recycled washed up ex world champions and only having 1 elite opponent to his resume

Damn, y'all. Let's talk about THIS fight. Anytime I get to watch a superb boxer that knock's people out is a gift. And added dimensions (undisputed, different weight class, vs the top rated opponent, etc) just makes it that much sweeter. I'm looking forward to it. Every other boxing fan should be, too. Respect, Marlon. Respect, Naoya.

If Inoue wins he is a shoe-in for fighter of the year - the thinking prior to the Fulton fight was that it was just as much a 50/50 fight as Spence/crawford

Indeed. This is a great announcement and yet we've got forum obsessives talking about a completely unrelated matter. Do these people even like boxing?
