  • Comments Thread For: Leigh Wood Flashes Flare For The Dramatic In Comeback KO Over Warrington

By Corey Erdman - For a fighter entering what he later described as the biggest bout of his life, Leigh Wood looked somewhere between stoic and apathetic as he walked to the ring on Saturday night at the Sheffield Arena. Contrasted with his opponent Josh Warrington, who screamed and waved his arms as "I Predict A Riot" by Kaiser Chiefs hit the speakers, Wood looked like he was strolling through the aisles of the supermarket.

another great write-up Corey - I actually counted a 5 shot combo before Warrington hit the canvas - the last 2 blows connected as Josh was falling - extremely precise punching by Wood - this tells me that he is unemotional in the ring - other fighters - Eubank for example - become overwhelmed by an adrenaline rush when they have their opponent hurt and start swinging wildly - not so with Wood

I watched Lee live at the Conlan fight and thought he was done going into the last , I watched Lee live Lara 1 and thought be was done after the KO, I didn't go to he Lara rematch as I thought he'd be KO'd again ...I watched Lee live at the Warrington fight and thought I'd definitely got it right this time that he was done ...!! Lee's doing MY head in ...Great to see this warrior earning some great acclaim and good paydays ....but I know it will go wrong if I were to ever bet money on him!!

Wood struggled because Warrington fought a dirty fight. Warrington gained an advantage with every behind the head blow, every low blow, and every hold down an hit blow. He got hurt by the only punch that landed on him flush. And then the ref ended a fight after a knockdown right at the bell. This fight should not have been called off at this point. Dazed Warrington was heading towards his corner. The round was over. Perhaps the stoppage was poetic justice due to Warrington fighting a dirty fight. The ref, however, was definitely incompetent in that moment.
