Comments Thread For: Leigh Wood: My Next Fight Will Be At Nottingham Forest, But Not At 126

Leigh Wood insists he does not care who he faces next as long as it is at Nottingham Forest's City Ground. The 35-year-old produced a sensational come-from-behind victory on Saturday at the Utilita Arena in Sheffield to retain the WBA featherweight title.

Would love to see Wood get a homecoming stadium fight but doubt it actually happens if I’m honest.

It is great to see a local fighter doing so well and also great to see my beloved Nottingham Forest getting the attention of a world-wide audience.

Froch was obviously a Nottingham boy and Forest fan, but he admits he wasn't a huge fan, whereas Leigh has been a season ticket holder all his life.

I really hope he gets the City Ground fight. Take That are booked for the weekend of 25/26 May and our last home game is 12 May, so hopefully that means the fight can be on the weekend of 19 May.

Will be difficult to pull the city ground fight off hearns admitted they have only have one week of availability in may to make it happen there. But the club probably do wanna put it on but it's been proven to be difficult

Would a rematch with Warrington at 130 lbs be stadium worthy?

I doubt it, Wood isn’t a massive draw in Nottingham like Froch was. The first fight was at Sheffield arena which has a capacity of about 11-12000 so it’s hard see them selling 30,000 plus in the City ground.

I’d like to see it happen for Leigh though, he deserves it.

Who do you think he could fight there?

people are saying Cordina might not fight him because he's the champion and why would he go to Wood's hometown and Stadium but why not? Selby did with Josh Warrington. If the money is right, I can't see why he wouldn't and it's not like Cordina is fighting in stadiums anytime soon otherwise.

I think Cordina would beat the crap out of him though.

Yeah I doubt it would be full, I think it would be more like Bellew at Goodison Park where it was nowhere near full and large sections of the stands were closed off.

in that sense, it's just doing the stadium for the sake of doing the stadium, when if you actually total the tickets up, it could be done in an arena
