Comments Thread For: Will Canelo Alvarez Reignite Against Jermell Charlo?

By Cliff Rold - Undisputed super middleweight champion Saul Alvarez (59-2-2, 39 KO) has been one of boxing's biggest stars and attractions for more than a decade. At age 33, with a career dating back almost eighteen years, the time for Alvarez to remain one of boxing's central attractions is probably on the clock.

I don't like the vibes canelo is giving off he's talking like he's just gonna run through the supposed "smaller" guy listening to the casuals saying that he will knock him out.

I can pretty much guarantee he won't stop Jermell who has an excellent chin, power and most importantly hungry. I think canelo is doing the same thing he did with bivol he's taking him lightly.

Canelo does sound like he has something that he wants to prove to the fan's, but more importantly to his opponent Jermell.
It's kind of difficult to tell how this fight is going to play out, but Jermell looks like he has the same dimension's that Bivol had over him.
If he has the same cool, calm, and collected resolve that Bivol displayed on the night that he outpointed Canelo, then Canelo is in for a very long night.

In the interviews with Canelo that I have seen he has been pretty measured in his assessment of the Charlo fight. Canelo agrees that he has not been at his best in the last three fights, and he gives plenty of props to Charlo's skill. He also insists that he expects a tough and difficult fight but that he expects to come out on top. When pressed he does not say that he will knock Charlo out but only that he will win. I didn't hear anything about him running through Charlo, but there were interviews that I might have missed where he said something like he was going to "run through" Charlo. In a couple of Spanish-language interviews, he said that Charlo is the naturally bigger guy. Whatever the case, I agree that it is going to be a tough fight for Canelo and a knockout is unlikely. We shall see soon enough.

I am not certain he needs to be ignited. He had a few fights where he did not appear the same. Only one of them was he beat and that dude had his number.
I remembered always thinking that someone may beat Mayweather and then finding out fight night they actually had no chance. I imagine we get back to those days for Canelo with this fight.

I'm gonna go with a Charlo win on points, maybe he will be the first fighter to knock down canelo

I think given the success Castano had in landing on Charlo, there's no reason to think Canelo is not going to find him and land on him without too much difficulty.Charlo had two tough fights against Castano and Canelo does everything better and is heavier, stronger, tougher. I think Canelo will stop him eventually.

Idk if you can truly recover from a wrist injury, even if you get surgery. And he’s an old 33. I expect to still look like he’s declining. This is a fight he could lose.

Reignite what exactly? This fight is like when he dragged up Khan from 147 to 160. Only this time hes fighting the 154lb champ at 168.

Like when Loma beat Rigo, it shouldnt count for much.
