  • Comments Thread For: Tim Tszyu: If Charlo Didn't Hold Up 154, Me and Mendoza Would Be Unification

Junior middleweight contender Tim Tszyu believes his upcoming fight with Brian Mendoza should have been a unification encounter. Both men are interim-champions, with Tszyu holding the WBO strap and Mendoza having the WBC's version.

The only way I see Charlo coming back down in weight is if he loses to Canelo. He wins that fight he defends in a rematch and makes generational wealth.

Like Tim isn't fighting place holders and stay busy fights as mando. His time is almost over farting around.

Why would Jermell come back down to 154 if he somehow beat Canelo? Another retirement check facing Canelo in a rematch means he will never have to fight again. Tszyu got screwed out of fighting for undisputed @ 154, but that's boxing.

Tim is a consummate professional. Trains hard and always challenges himself.
I don't know why people are so quick to pick Tszyu over Mendoza after what Mendoza showed against the Giraffe.
Real heart and punching power. Mendoza is very dangerous.

Mendoza has limited boxing ability cant see him winning in Aus where a 20 count will apply if he lands a lucky shot.

100% if he wins there is gonna be a rematch.

Even if he loses idk if its a great idea to have gained 14lbs in a few mos to lose 14lbs in however long & keep it moving like nothing happened. These up & down in weight things aren't usually a great move for boxers.

Sucks for Tim & for fans, but I tend to think its 51% or more chance we've seen the last of Mell at 154.

At this level EVERYONE is dangerous to some degree.

But lets not forget Mendoza was losing every rd vs Sebastian before he stopped him. And I think Tim has a higher ring IQ, better skills & hits harder.

Not saying Mendoza can't win or anything extreme as that, but Tim is & should be a very solid favorite here.

Eh. I think they are pretty fair in Aussie land as a guy who's been watching Aussie events for quite awhile now with all the talent they got there these days.

Now those RCC Russian shows are super sketchy & I see foul things all the time with those shows including the biggest robbery I saw this year so far.

I live in Aus Ive seen 50 yrs of fights here, seen more robberies of international guys than you can poke a stick at, I just don't think much of Mendoza Id much rather it be Castano but is what it is good luck to both.
