Comments Thread For: Jermell Charlo Says Retirement Should Be The Furthest Thing From Spence's Mind

Whether he went 12 full rounds or got the job done before the sound of the final bell, Errol Spence Jr. seldom looked like he just got into a fistfight. More times than not, the 33-year-old was normally the one dishing out the beatings. Recently, however, Spence looked like a complete mess.

He's not retiring. Too much money involved with a rematch.
And if he loses. He will still do well with his next couple fights. $$

He won't retire, but it shouldn't be the furthest thing from his mind. He looked such a mess in the Crawford fight that it will naturally have him questioning whether he still has it.

Another defeat like that and retirement could easily be around the corner.

Well.. when you got seriously beat up, had a retinal detachment, miraculously survived a terrible car accident, you're 34 and made tons of money. then yes, it's really time to think about it.

If Charlo was actually his friend, he would be telling him to think about his future. That was an embarrassing loss. He may never be the same in the ring again. If that was the way he looked in camp, Derrick James should have told him the truth.

The title of this article makes it sound like if it was about Charlo's opinion on why he shouldn't retire but instead it's two little quotes and the rest is the writer's opinion.

Its crazy how Errol regularly beat Jermell's ass in the gym, yet Bud beat Errol with ease, and not even going into 2nd gear to do it. So what would Bud most likely do to Jermell Charlo?

Honestly, "retirement" should be the only thing of his mind.

Spence got beat in a high risk fight. That’s boxing. Ray Leonard came back from a detached retina and look what he ended up accomplishing. Fans are so fickle nowadays. They’re quick to complain that fighters don’t risk enough, but when they do and end up losing they’re quick to write them off. I agree that it was a tough loss. But, I’m not counting out Errol Spence because these are the sort of defeats that set the stage for a massive comeback. These are the falls that define who you are. How will Spence react? Great fighters rise up.
