This guy was jobbed. He knows he was jobbed. Hearn hasn’t mentioned him in how long now? That PEDroom signing berlanga will turn out to be another loss of investment for dazn. He signed with the snake oil salesman do fight Canelo and then Canelo bluntly told the world “I don’t work for Eddie Hearn, I’m my own boss” and signed a deal with Haymon to be back on showtime where the American sports fan will see his return to the airwaves

De La Hoya, Hearn Agree: Munguia Vs Berlanga Is A Hot One That Needs To Happen
        August 1, 2023

It’s no secret that Oscar De La Hoya and Eddie Hearn have had their differences, this to put it mildly. But nothing gets in the way of good business, or at least nothing should do, and nothing should get in the way of a potentially great match up. On this, it seems, De La Hoya and Hearn are, for now at least, in agreement.

Case in point: De La Hoya of Golden Boy has put out a tweet in which he has informed Hearn of Matchroom how the fight to make, for the fans, for the good of the sport that has seen some great matchmaking this year, is one between Jamie Munguia and Edgar Berlanga. In this regard, Oscar is now “waiting on Hearn’s call.”

Hearn, who spoke with IFL TV once again, made it clear he is more than willing to work with De La Hoya in order to get this “absolute war” signed and sealed.

“That was nice. All of a sudden he wants to make a fight,” Hearn said of De La Hoya. “He wants the fight, DAZN want the fight. We’ve already been talking to Golden Boy for a number of weeks about Munguia-Berlanga. Frank Smith (of Matchroom) met Eric Gomez (of Golden Boy) in L.A. Obviously, DAZN have said to Golden Boy, that’s the fight we want next – Munguia against Berlanga. Absolute epic fight, Mexico versus Puerto Rico, 50-50 fight, absolute war. Hopefully we can sit down with our friends at Golden Boy and get it made.”

        Amen to that.

Who wouldn’t want to see this one go down? And, rest assured, someone would go down in the fight, be it the currently unbeaten Munguia or the currently unbeaten Berlanga. Some fights, some potential fights, when they are merely mentioned as a possibility, they make the fans almost shiver with excitement. This is one such fight.

Berlanga may not have been able to keep his incredible KO streak going, but the Puerto Rican has kept a clean sheet and he feels he is destined for great things. Munguia, who may well be coming off the fight that will scoop up FOTY honours when the times comes, this his all-out slugfest with Sergiy Derevyanchenko, could also go on to become the next great Mexican star.

Match these two together, as De la Hoya and Hearn want to do, and we fans will be the winners. To repeat, this fight has WAR written all over it, for as long as it lasts.

Let’s hope good business sense and a sense of what’s right for the sport dominates any feeling out process Hearn and De La Hoya go through as they circle one another ahead of getting this thing made!

They pulled a bait and switch on Berlanga. I hope he’s at least getting paid well.

Berlanga is delusional. He ain’t fighting Canelo, he ain’t fighting GGG and probably not Munguia either. He’ll end up fighting Daniel Jacobs and John Ryder and be no further along in his career after his three-fight deal is over.

Berlanga was one of the worst hype jobs of recent times. I initially was on that train until he went the full 10 or whatever it was and believe he got dropped in that same fight. I can't recall. Then he literally vanished for some time. I think the last time I saw him fight, he was mostly mediocre as f**k. This was the dude when he was still KOing guys in the 1st was calling out Canelo.

If Berlanga got Canelo, it would be one of the greatest capers in boxing. Total hype job whose proven squat gets a mega paycheck to get ktfo quickly. Can't believe anyone could have thought he would of had a chance vs Canelo back then or even now.

David Benavidez Vs. Demetrius Andrade In The Works For Fall
                    August 8, 2023

David Benavidez and former two-division world champion Demetrius Andrade have a fight in the works for November or December. It’ll be interesting to see if this fight actually happens because both guys have recently avoided taking risky fights, and either of them could choose to drag their fight in negotiations to make sure this match doesn’t take place.

Andrade finally gets a good fight after turning down Zach Parker and Janibek Alimkhanuly.

Those were bad career moves on Andrade’s part to turn down those fights because it showed that he was hypocritical, as he had been complaining about how Canelo Alvarez avoided him and other top guys.

Then he’s offered tough opposition, turns them down, and chooses to play it safe.

Benavidez (27-0, 23 KOs) will defend his WBC interim super middleweight title against the unbeaten Andrade (32-0, 19 KOs), with the winner to be mandatory to champion Canelo Alvarez.

“Sources close to the operation tell me that David Benavidez will go against Demetrius Andrade in one of the last months of this year.

Jaime Munguía’s handlers have chosen not to fight Benavidez,” said JuliusJulianis.

Benavidez recently beat former IBF super middleweight champion Caleb Plant in a grueling contest last March. Plant dominated the first half but then ran out of gas and got worked over in the last six rounds.

This fight is happening because Benavidez choose not to take the risky match against WBA ‘regular’ super middleweight champion David Morrell Jr., who made him look avoidant & scared by not agreeing to face him after he called him out.

Morrell exposed a side of Benavidez that we hadn’t seen, showing that he’s not willing to take a risk in a 50-50 fight.

Another reason why the Benavidez-Andrade fight is being made is that Jaime Munguia chose not to fight Benavidez, which isn’t all that surprising.

Although he showed interest in facing Benavidez after his narrow win over Sergiy Derevyanchenko last June, the closeness of that fight likely made him and his management put the brakes on facing the Mexican Monster.

The World Boxing Council has chosen not to order Canelo to defend against Benavidez this year, so perhaps in 2024, they could be ready to order the contest. Whether Canelo will be the champion by that point is unknown. If he loses to Jermell Charlo next month on September 30th, the problem of fighting the Benavidez-Andrade winner will be his. He’ll have inherited Canelo’s problem that he’s avoided for ages.
