  • Comments Thread For: Terence Crawford Trainer on Spence: He Was Slow As ****; He Was Basic

Nothing in the repertoire of Errol Spence Jr. struck trainer Brian McIntyre as particularly complex. Far from it. The veteran trainer of Terence Crawford was hardly impressed by Spence's performance against his charge last Saturday

Terence Crawford deserves 100% credit for the win but clearly Errol Spence sounded his brain wasn't function well during training and the press conferences. Dude was slurring all over the place like something was seriously wrong. the weight drain didn't help as well. He had no power and zero punch resistance. i don't how the nevada commission passed him the pre-fight cat scan. The money across the board was talking

      Double talk is weird....
like saying "Im not racist BUT"

& it wasnt a weight drain, it was making weight to defend his belts. Nobody forced him.

      Stop w/the excuses

I believe Spence was fine (enough) when the fight was signed. Virgil Hunter said a few key things that made absolute sense. He said Spence did too much training, too much jogging in new environments (hills/mountains) - in too much intense heat. I'm saying this, not Hunter: You have to look at Spence's trainer. He may be responsible for allowing his fighter to over train under terrible heat conditions. He may have attributed to his fighter being super slow.

But that's also on the fighter. Spence was not up to the task. Bud came ready, and won.

We were all used to seeing Spence not really being hit hard a lot in fights. There comes a time where you will be hit a lot in a fight. Leonard against Duran, Floyd against Jesus Chavez, Mosley against Forrest, Marquez against Pac…and so on and so forth. That is when fans find out if and how you can weather the storm under tremendous pressure. Bud did that against Gamboa and even got hurt, but he passed with flying colors. Spence got hit by a lot of hard and clean punches for the first time…and failed to pass the test. He couldn’t adjust. He put up a great effort doe by taking some very hard punches and not quitting. So he didn’t fail the heart test. He didn’t pass the punch resistance test put forth by Bud. It happens in big fights when you’re thrown off your game. The greats adjust.

This could be true. It’s hard to build muscle when you have to get down to a certain weight. Like it can be done, but does it benefit a boxer. Bud looked filled out at 147. He looked bigger than Spence.

True, and anybody has to agree Spence did pass the heart test. So there's that for him. He kept fighting like he expected to ko crawford with the next shot.

He even protested the stoppage. He had so much heart that he could’ve gotten himself hurt. I’ll never question his heart. I’ve said all along that Spence didn’t train like a boxer. They had him doing weirdo **** it seemed to me. I still don’t think that he would’ve beaten Bud, but he might’ve looked better and threw more straight punches. It was like once his jab was blocked he resorted to looping his shots. Some landed but they never truly hurt Bud.

I'm a big Spence supporter but stop regurgitating hearsay from some guy on a podcast. He was prevented from his biggest payday vs Pacquiao. Which is worse permanent brain damage or blind in one eye?

I can buy over training. I'm not buying he's not fit to fight til something official comes out. BTW I've read his speech is different due to damage to his face and jaw.
