  • Comments Thread For: Bud Crawford Stands Alone at Welterweight: Weekend Afterthoughts

The best week of boxing in years didn't go quite as expected. Two highly anticipated matches perceived as nearly even going in turned into something else entirely. From two superfights we got a pair of singular performances for the ages. In the last thirty years, there are a relative handful of performances like the pair we got just four days apart: Roy Jones-James Toney, Floyd Mayweather-Diego Corrales, Bernard Hopkins-Felix Trinidad, Vernon Forrest-Shane Mosley; there are a few more, but not many.

"The rematch clause for the fight means they could be doing this again before the year is out. Spence clearly struggled badly to make the welterweight limit. Returning to the division again is inadvisable. Nothing about the tactical side of Saturday indicated a junior middleweight rematch would produce a different result. Crawford was quicker, more fluid, and his longer arms allowed him to beat Spence to the punch all night. A few more pounds isn’t likely to change any of that."

I agree, but I would rather see Crawford vs. Spence @ 154, than Crawford vs. Thurman @ 147. If he fights anyone @ 147, it has to be Boots Ennis, and not Spence or Thurman! Salute to Bud Crawford, P4P#1 Boxer on the planet!!!

Man enough of this bull**** weight excuses. If Spence was so worried about weight he shouldn't have ducked bud for 5 years. Bud called his ass out when he was still at 140 and Spence told him to his face he was gonna take the "easy route"....I don't wanna hear it. They could fight at 175 and bud knocks Spence out every single time.

This! Multiple excuses came out Spence mouf over the years. Fanboys claimed Spence would wash Bud. And it looks like BoMac was right, Spence waited to long. Bud is the ****in man, been the man and will continue to be the man. All you halfaf.ag fanboys can eat some leftover fried fish, Bud even left some hot sauce for that @ss.

THIS is the move that Team Crawford should entertain. If Jermell does come back down, the Tszyu/Crawford winner will be first in line. Crawford dismantled Jeff Horn, so I think the Australian media will have no issues marketing it.

If Jermell drops his titles and Crawford beats Tszyu, he'll still be a 4-weight titlist.
