Comments Thread For: Jai Opetaia Enters Promotional Pact With Eddie Hearn

Tasman Fighters and Jai Opetaia have agreed to work with Matchroom as part of a global promotional partnership. Opetaia (22-0 17 KOs) wrestled the IBF World Cruiserweight title away from Mairis Briedis on home turf with an outstanding display in Queensland, Australia in July 2022, outboxing the Latvian with a show of skill mixed with guts after breaking his jaw in both the second and final rounds.

Interesting move. MR don’t have many Cruiserweights other than Clarke who’s still a prospect at this point. Hopefully, they don’t block Opetaia from unifying with CBS or fighting Riakporhe.

Is CBS even in a long term contract with boxxer?

Think he’s signed a multi fight deal yeah. The Chamberlain fight was a one fight deal but then he re-signed.

Idk, so long as Opetaia didn't take too much damage from Breidis I wouldn't be too timid about matching him with Brits. They should have to travel to him though.

            Does he draw in Australia?

CBS could probably do big numbers for a unification in Bournemouth.

Looks like Riakporhe will have to travel down under.

Will now Shalom pull Riakporhe out - Clarke style?

                  Boxing’s a business though.
