That's exactly the problem of Fury's own making.

Fury has played so many games that he's played himself in a position where no-one wants to waste time and energy negotiating with him. He'll need to make offers that are both good and concrete (which he never does) or fight someone who has no real standing in the sport (which he usually does).

It's not exactly surprising. Schwarz, Wallin, Chisora - they announced them all by saying no-one else wanted or was available to fight him and they were the highest ranked fighters available.

Fury fighting a decent fighter at this point would be completely out of character.

Yes. All serious contenders know they can`t afford losing time with Fury, because he can`t be trusted.

Everybody wants to fight Fury, but nobody wants to spend his time and money with some fake negotiations.

Why take a dig at his own dad? Has Barry said something to expose one of Eddie's lies?

Plus, for once, there's a genuine chance of landing the Wilder fight, who has avoided him even more than Zero cred Fury. And if that fight happens, it most likely becomes a final eliminator. If Joshua got that, then Fury would have to fight or be stripped. Then he's backed into a corner.
He can fight Fury and Wilder. So fight in an eliminator rather than for the title, makes sense. Queensberry will be happy if Joshua becomes mandatory Hearn won't
