  • Comments Thread For: The Talented Mr. Taylor

By Cliff Rold - It was fairly common during the 1980s for HBO to include in their on-screen graphics before a fight the amount of days it had been since a Mike Tyson or Julio Cesar Chavez had last been in a ring. Anything more than four or five months would often receive notice as "a career-long." Longer layoffs seemed reserved for veteran fighters still engaging in only the biggest fights.

It’s incomprehensible how few people are giving Lopez a chance to win. What because they think he’s mentally unstable? Because he said “do I still got it (in front of the cameras by the way)”? Get out of here with that. Lopez has all the tools and talent to beat Taylor. I think people watch too much WWE thinking there’s a narrative to follow to a satisfying conclusion.

      Yes exactly.

Lopez is the more skilld guy, faster, better defense when applied, powerful, explosive yet not many have him winning simply because of how hes been talking lately.

Interesting fact The Ring magazine had a 20 expert panel pick the winner most agree it will be close but every single one picked Taylor...this same panel of 20 also all picked Canelo to beat bivol last year...Interesting indeed.

Im also surprised how fickle the boxing crowd can be how they forget so easily.

Taylor is a badman I hope he comes back strong against Lopez but it's gonna be a hell of a fight Teo is so slick and he's got that rep to uphold. A bit like Broner Maidana his pride won't let him stop so you know he'll keep coming.

          Bull ****

people have Taylor winning because Lopez has looked like crap in his last 3 fights, that's all. Teo is new to 140, Taylor has been there his whole career and except against catteral and Prograis he has looked solid.

Teo arguably lost to Martin and didn't do a good enough job against the cab driver before Martin

Didn't look like a badman when he was getting dropped and schooled by Caterall

everyone has an off night or can look bad against certain opponents, It's like dismissing everything Fury has done because he got a gift against John Mcdermott. Not to mention having boxercise Ben as your trainer definitely doesn't help things

hence why i said "hope he comes back stronger". Hopefully it was as he mentioned an "off night" against Caterall. I recently heard an interview where he said he took him lightly in regards to fight preparation and build up. Easy to say that after the event I know, he just has to prove it against Teo now.

Taylor has the mental fortitude that Lopez doesn't.

Put Martin in there with anyone else at 140 including Taylor and he’ll make them look bad, he’s a good sneaky fighter. Taylor arguably did worse in his last fight. Taylor is a bit of a smoke screen imo. Prograis is overrated, a very basic predictable fighter who will keep getting outboxed. And Ramirez was ****ing Taylor all over the ring before he snuck in an uppercut in the clinch when Ramirez thought the ref was separating them.
