Comments Thread For: Munguia Explains Why Charlo, Golovkin, Bivol Fights Are Not Happening

Jaime Munguia will fight Sergiy Derevyanchenko on June 10 at the Toyota Arena in Ontario, Calif. headlining a Golden Boy Promotions card on DAZN. For the 26-year-old Mexico native, it's the fights that aren't happening that continue to dominate the narrative around his career.

"On Charlo: “Obviously now with the success of Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia, I think it makes things a little bit easier with the TV networks Showtime and DAZN."

Some fights are BIG enough for a co-promotion. Charlo vs. Munguia is NOT one of them! Neither is Rolly vs. Ryan!

Ryan better do whatever he gotta do to get that rolly fight. It's the easiest way to a title and it will do 250k ppvs

It's the one fight he can win and look amazing doing it

So he really didn't explain why the fights are not happening other than "they didn't happen for whatever reason" which has been the slogan for his whole career

Munguia is a weird case, has 41 fights gets treated and matched up like a prospect..

Truth is, when was the last time DLH landed a big fight for any of his fighters? ( let’s not count tankVgarcia. We all know Ryan made that happened much more than DLH)

Agreed 100%. I would have liked to have seen Charlo vs Mungia and even though I expect Charlo to win, how he wins would show where he fits in the landscape.

                Great post

Did they leave out the paragraph where Mungia actually explains why these fights haven’t happen. 41 fights/ 39 cab drivers

It's because he can make good money fighting second tier opponents. So why take a risk? Certainly not the mentality of a champion or a warrior, but unfortunately this is modern boxing for you. Fans need to stop paying to see him.
