Comments Thread For: Jaime Munguia Hoping For David Benavidez Clash Later This Year

It feels like a lifetime ago when a 21-year-old Jaime Munguia was universally praised for openly accepting a showdown against Gennadiy Golovkin. Although their clash fell by the wayside, Munguia quickly pivoted and immediately went on to win a junior middleweight title. The days of Munguia being viewed as an offensive dynamo with a ton of potential, however, are somewhat over.

Don't even think that Munguia will get past Derevy for him to be taking sights to a top fighter. Regardless Munguia has a habit of calling people out when he is about to fight and then he goes and fights a low ranked hopeless fighter.

Lets see how he does in his next fight and what Derevy has left.

Munguia legit beat Liam Smith. I scored it 8-4 or something. He beats way past prime Derevyan for sure.

            Benavidez struggles against him.

              .

His fight vs Derevy if he has something left will be very telling. Munguia's competition has been subpar. Liam was a calculated risk.

"Munguia looking to take the Ryan Garcia path and cash out by years end."

Derevyanchenko is a world class fighter. This should be a good fight and a good test for Munguia.
