cruz's biggest achievement is going 12 rounds and landing some punches on davis. this is no achievement. i think davis wins convincingly in a rematch.

Cruz has done NOTHING to deserve a rematch! Let him fight Zepeda, Shakur, or Frank Martin first! If Tank won't fight Haney or Shakur, then I want to see him fight Gary Antuanne Russell!

Gary Antuanne Russell Open To Gervonta Davis Fight At 135
        07/27/2022 - By Rob Smith

Light welterweight contender Gary Antuanne Russell says he’d be willing to drop down to 135 to face Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis at lightweight. Rusell feels he would have an easy time defeating Ryan Garcia at 140. Ryan is moving up to light welterweight and says he’s done fighting at 135, apart from a potential mega-fight against Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis later this year.

If Ryan is serious about campaigning at 140, he’s going to have to face the 26-year-old Gary Antuanne (15-0, 15 KOs) sooner or later, especially if he gets his hands on one of the vacated titles in the division.

Russell is fighting this Saturday night against former two-division world champion Rances ‘Kid Blast’ Barthelemy (29-1-1, 15 KOs) on the undercard of Danny Garcia vs. Jose Benavidez Jr on Showtime at the Barkley Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Besides Ryan and Tank Davis as fighters that would interest the 2016 U.S Olympian Gary Antuanne, he could face Devin Haney when he moves up to 140 soon. Haney is quickly outgrowing the 135-lb division and will need to move up to 140 sooner or later.

“I’m in this division, and this person has this title, and this person has two titles. I just need them. It don’t matter. Of course, each time I weigh in, I come in at 137, 136.8, and I’m fighting at 140,” said Gary Antuanne Russell to Fighthype when asked if he could make 135.

“No, because he don’t have the same fighting style as all the other opponents I’ve had,” said Russell when asked if a fight between him and Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis would be similar to his other 15 fights as a pro.

“As I said to a couple of other reporters, a mechanic only takes out his toolbag what he needs for the job. Like I said, Rances Barthelemy, he’s long, he’s crafty, and I got to be inside or play him by eye.

“Sit in the pocket and have cat-like reflexes. Gervonta ‘Tank,’ he fought Rolly. I don’t even watch fights like that. I don’t even care because I care about my craft.

“Rolly, he’s a pressure fighter and thought he could walk Tank down. A lot of times, you don’t see Tank boxing. He really got touched too many times in that fight by a slow fighter, but it was still something of his game plan.

“I’m going to box him; Rolly is slow and will come in; he’s strong, and I’m going to out-slick him. I’m sharper, and I’m going to set him up. That’s what he [Tank Davis] did. He set him up with a left hand.

“Hell, no. Easy money,” said Russell when asked if Ryan Garcia would be a tough fight for him like Gervonta.

I don’t think we’re likely to see Ryan Garcia get anywhere near Gary Antuanne because this is a much different type of fighter than the guys that Kingry has been padding his record against for the last six years in the pro ranks.

“To be honest with you, I don’t got the fight going the full duration,” said Gary Russell Jr when asked about his brother Gary Antuanne’s 10-round bout against Rances Barthelemy this Saturday night.

“My younger brother understands the concept I’m bringing into his training camp as far as the tools that he would need to execute this fight. I think he’s going to get him [Barthelemy] out of there. He would destroy Ryan Garcia.

“It’s crazy because a lot of them guys that didn’t want to compete against me and tried to stay away from me and duck me. At some point, it’s difficult to get away from this bloodline.

“These mother f**** are going to run into this pedigree one way or another. Even Devin Haney. I’m going to 140, and it’s not a problem. He’s going to run into my little brother [Gary Antuanne],” said Russell Jr.

What did Romero or Ryan do to deserve a Davis match? Oh to the casual fight fan, they did WWE theatrics and that’s good enough for them! Get the F out of here, if you know boxing, you know that the biggest challenge for Davis is Cruz! He gave him everything he had, and couldn’t hurt him. Cruz is no walk in the park, and this time he’ll have 3 months to prepare not 15 days. Cruz time!

Ryan Garcia Names 3 Fighters He Wants Next: Rolly, Cruz Or Teofimo
            05/30/2023 - By Jeff Sorby

Ryan Garcia named the three fighters that he’ll be choosing from for his next fight this Summer.

            The fighters are as follows:
            • Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero
            • Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz
            • Teofimo Lopez.

The 5’5″ Cruz would seem like the least likely to get a fight against Ryan because he’s built along the same lines as Gervonta Davis, he’s an excellent body puncher, he hits hard, he can take a shot, and he’s going put unrelenting pressure on Kingry.

You can’t compare the performances of Pitbull Cruz against Tank Davis to that of Ryan’s poor effort because there’s no comparison. Pitbull gave Gervonta pure hell for 12 rounds, forcing him to move around the ring to keep from getting hit...

Ryan (23-1, 19 KOs) says for ‘Pitbull’ Cruz (24-2-1, 17 KOs) to be an option, he’ll need to come up to 140 to face him, which he’ll likely be willing to do for the right price...

Ryan made $15 million for the Tank Davis fight last April, and he’s not going to make that kind of money fighting any 140-pounders; frankly, most of them would beat him...

This article is from July 2022, the last time Russell fought. What has Russell done since then? Decline a title fight with Puello because he doesn't perceive Puello as being on his level

The Flying Russells should stop boxing and start a circus!

Trash fight that no one wants to see other than tank fanboys who are terrified of their hero ever taking a risky fight.

I was very disappointed by him turning down Puello, but now Puello's name is trash! I guarantee he would spark Rolly in 8! Tank vs. G.A. Russell in D.C., or anywhere in the DMV would be a classic! Tank should've chosen him instead of Hector Luis Garcia! FYI, Pitbull hasn't fought since September 2022!
