Comments Thread For: Perpetually Optimistic Teddy Atlas Says Latest Reform Effort is 'Catching a Little Bit of Fire'

By Lyle Fitzsimmons - All of a sudden, Teddy Atlas has been around a while. He was a protege of Cus D'Amato. He worked with a teenage Mike Tyson. He gave memorable corner speeches. He provided the soundtrack to a generation of fans on Friday Night Fights. And these days, he's morphed into the senior conscience of a tortured sport.

Any change at this point is a must, regardless of how you feel about any particular result or any particular fight, there is a silent epidemic in this sport that the lesser known guy has to almost kill his opponent to win on the cards. Not saying it’s every case, just saying it shouldn’t be happening in any cases at all. Boxing with all of its ******** ties should’ve had harsher government oversight. Too many people have too many relationships with each other outside of the sport and there is zero ethical overview. We see favorable rankings by guys who baptize each others kids and ishhh like that. A fighter should be able to fight anywhere in the world and have the exact same judging anywhere they go. Who checks these judges finances, are there safe guards at casinos to prevent them from betting, Sulaiman and Mendoza and company have been on vacations with promoters families. There are too many ways to alter a result in this sport. We need more transparency and oversight, if not for the sport then for the ambitions and efforts of the fighters themselves who all deserve better.

I'm already fearful for Bud. Spence Is the A side. Bud is the older B side and the outsider in the sport. Hope that fight gets scored well if it goes to the cards.

Belts, promoter's, judges, clauses all need a shake up.
Ted is very passionate & a voice we need in the sport.

But tell me when he's got his nose fixed, the constant nasal clearing into the mic when I'm wearing headphones listening to his pod, i can't listen any more.

had they done this years ago, Mayweather's career would have ended after the Castillo fix

Is it you? Mark Kriegel? Thankfully? The man is a walking boxing encyclopedia. He is an excellent analyst and was entertaining as hell.

"We're proud of you and the way that Arum and Co., they pushed you out of boxing."

That was petty AF! They dissed Manny and dismissed Teddy, and for what? For Jeff Horn! That's ridiculous! You treated 2 legends of the sport like that, for a loser!!!
