Comments Thread For: Benavidez Sr: This is Not The Same Canelo From Four Fights Ago

Jose Benavidez Sr, father and trainer of unbeaten super middleweight contender David Benavidez, believes that last Saturday's version of Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez, who defeated John Ryder over twelve rounds, is not the same Canelo from four fights ago.

I heard no lies. And after Saul gets beat again, hopefully this time at 168, hes definitely not gonna be the same.
i keep saying Saul should give up this rematch and fight Benavidez in September. He'll actually be favored over David. But if he insists on gettin taken to school again by Bivol, the Benavodez fight next may will be closer to 50/50

I read many comments here basically saying, if you criticize Canelo, you are just a hater, you aren't a combat fighter yourself so you shouldn't talk, etc.

Canelo came up and was made the new "face of boxing". He has always been skilled and a damn good fighter. What he has never been is a legend in the making, some kind of all timer. He has a legendary chin. He has decent power, but has never knocked out top tier guys. He lost to the other two guys who would be called generational talents, Floyd and GGG. He got busted for PED'S. He has been a weight bully in many cases.

He has been fading for a few years. Bivol and him are about the same age, in their fight Canelo looked like an old fighter. He isn't going to beat Benavidez and will never come within a mile of the ring with Biev, he would get hurt.

He was always a good fighter made out to be an all timer due to hype.

all throughout his career he has been the same fighter, its just the opposition has changed, the only time he has looked like a world beater and 'in his prime' was when he fought that bunch of slop at 168... did that canelo who fought bivol look any different to the one who fought mayweather?

          Canelo is only slightly worst..

remember he didn’t stop Callum Smith either..

these Euro guys he beats are nothing special, never have been.

Finally someone else said it ..

I never thought Canelo has improved massively since that Mayweather fight he has always been and looked the same fighter to me since then it just depended on who you matched him with

Benavidez's dad does more talking than his son. He is actually riding Canelo's nuts. He knows more about Canelo than Canelo does. Honestly Canelo has declined a little but I think he needs to drop down to 160lbs where he is slimmer had better cardio and more power. Benavidez's dad is starting to be very obssessive compulsive.
