Benn knows he's got to play the game , as no one outside of England is really that interested in him . He might get his side kick Eddie Hearn to secure a dodgy fight in a dodgy country against a dodgy opponent but knows the real future is here. So here he comes cap in hand. It's bad and has caused a lot of unneeded grief and embarrassment for the sport .Eddie Hearn has been deplorable throughout and has made a complete fool of himself , insisting that everyone except Benn and himself are to blame .Boxing would certainly be a better place without the likes of these.

boxing fans are fickle, if he picks up a good win or two the fans will get behind him again

It actually can do, depending on the gear.

Certain gear you take can have a direct effect on the androgen receptors in your brain. Trenbolone as an immediate example often does.

Doesn't necessarily mean it will, I blasted Tren for decades and I'm a genius I'm joking (about being a genius, not the Tren)

But to answer your question yes, it can do that depending on how you personally react to the gear.

He would need to pick up this first "good win" first.
