Comments Thread For: Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez - Is This The Other Side?

There's no denying the quality of the run Saul Alvarez went on from his win in the second Gennadiy Golovkin fight through his undisputed coronation at super middleweight with a knockout of Caleb Plant. Alvarez already had the fame component of a hall of fame run. The victories from Golovkin to Plant helped finish his credentials in the ring.

Article was cool. Painful reminder of how Pernell was cheated after clearly winning.

You could make a good case that Pernell was undefeated until he met Trinidad...I wasnt a fan of him while he was active, but I| guess when you get older you get a little more perspective.

Alvarez. Already spent. 32 is old. Even with the refined training methods and supplements. 27 is the peak and it plateaus from there. Skills & technique are intact in terms of basic execution and loss isoffset by experience. Speed and footwork begins to diminish. Endurance begins to wane. All evident in Canelo, as he is past his prime. He has enough cash and fame. Time to retire. 33 will not bring the ease of vicotry, but will be hard fought wins that are on the edge & margin. Time to take care of Benavidez and hang up the gloves.
