Comments Thread For: Jamaine Ortiz On Shakur Stevenson: "I Want That Fight, We Can Get It On"

There aren't a ton of fighters out there who are anxious to jump into the ring with Shakur Stevenson. Of course, the former Olympic silver medalist has made it look incredibly easy no matter who he's lined up against.

Just try to get the Keyshawn Davis fight, or Floyd Schofield!

Shakur stops him inside the distance due to all his defensive flaws!

Keyshawn Davis discusses being ready to take on top fighters at lightweight
            May 3, 2023

Lightweight fighter Keyshawn Davis just made his appearance on Brian Custer’s Last Stand Podcast and spoke about his vision for his career, thoughts on his close friend and contemporary Shakur Stevenson, and feeling like he’s prepared to take on the best at 135. Check out some excerpts of what Davis had to say below...

On who he thinks he can realistically fight next

“Right now we’re looking at somebody in the top five. I don’t want to throw a name out there yet because this person didn’t accept an offer and I didn’t hear nothing back yet. It was just ‘we’re looking into this person.’ But the only hint I would throw out there is he’s in the top five in the WBO.”

This kid is a good fighter but why put him right back in with someone like Shakur? He has some talent, maybe get him in with Nakathila or try to get a Cruz or Berinchyk fight for him.

Frank Martin is available and has been inactive for 4 months now. I don't think he's fighting Isaac Cruz, his fellow PBC fighter.

Ortiz is a good fighter, but the reality is, Shakur is not going to be interested because Jamaine doesn't have a belt. The only fighter, after his introductory performance to 135, that Stevenson would fight right now without a belt is Tank, due to the riches and acclaim the fight would bring. I think Ortiz could possibly beat Keyshawn, but I would love to see the fight.
