Comments Thread For: Josh Taylor Dismisses Catterall Controversy, Blames British Bias: I've Had Nobody Come Up and Say It Was a Robbery

Josh Taylor isn't too concerned about the perception that he got away with one of the biggest heist jobs in a boxing ring in recent memory. The WBO 140-pound titlist from Scotland said in a recent interview that he remains unbothered by the criticism that he

That’s not what you call getting schooled kid. Fight could have went either way or been a draw.

Both Taylor and Lopez blame the media for the "perception" that they lost!

weird definition of schooling, people are re-writing history claiming this was a shutout and a clinic. it wasn't. yes Catterall deserved to win, but it was a very messy, boring clinchfest.

The pro-English bias is real in the UK media, hence why they hated on Andy Murray until he won a gold medal for 'Team UK'. Joe Calzaghe was criminally ignored by the UK media for most of his career, and numerous other non-english boxers. The fact that Taylor was the first UK boxer to win all 4 belts in the modern era and wasn't even considered for the BBC Sports personality short-list is just another example, whilst the media absolutely deep throats English boxers with a fraction of the talent like Benn/Eubank/AJ/Whyte.

Totally agree with this. He won 4 rounds for sure, and maybe 5, 6 or 7 depending what you fancy. Not enough to win in my personal view, but the commentary was ridiculously skewed and it's not the first time it's happened. They were also giving O'Hara Davies the big push before Taylor destroyed him and made him quit.

I thought Taylor won at least 4+ rounds, but im not going to be re-watching it anytime soon. people claim 7-5 fights are robberies nowadays.. so yeah.
