Comments Thread For: Carlos Adames Lashes Out at Jermall Charlo: "He's a Coward"

Jermall Charlo hasn't always been the most active fighter around. But the Houston native would routinely step through the ropes and proudly defend his WBC middleweight title. But, despite taking care of business against Juan Macias Montiel in 2021 for his fourth title defense, Charlo has spent his time sitting sequestered on the sidelines.

No, I'd say he's probably the least active world champion in existence.

The WBC need to strip Charlo, he hasn’t fought in nearly two years and has no fight scheduled.

Make him Champion in recess and make Adames the full Champion rather than this interim BS.

yep - he recently took over that title from LSC at 126. Special honorable mention for GRJ at 126 who until losing did his groundhog imitation popping up once a year for his mandatory and then disappearing.

I like it when fighters are in a hurry to get where they are going. In the UK, forget his name there is an 18yo HW who says that he wants to be world champion by time he is 20 - THAT'S what I like to hear and then also I love champions who are active - should be fighting twice a year - Canelo is good on this. Tank, even though he has no belt at least he is active and fighting good competition.

A good part of what kills boxing is that as a casual fan who roots for a fighter or even a semi hardcore fan like myself - you can't gain any traction rooting for a fighter because there are too many delays in between bouts - imagine you were a fifteen year old fan of Jermall back in 2021 - now you are 17, you been to parties, maybe have a new girl, developed new interests, college work to do - in short, your life has moved on and Jermall Charlo is a distant speck in life's rearview mirror.

As a fan of both Charlo brothers, Jermall needs to go ahead and fight his tune up in June or July, and fight Adames immediately after, because Carlos has earned his shot and has been waiting for too long.

I’m a fan of Charlo but two years is a bit excessive. As fans we complain about big fights due to the lack of legacy fighters but holding belts is just as bad.

As we all know, boxing is not an everyday sport so time off, holding a belt, really holds up the division. Two years means a lot of fights are basically held due to interim or eliminators which prevent some* boxers from taking a risk when they have a big money fight lined up.
Im rooting for Charlo but mans got to fight soon or let that belt go or at least champion in recess

Fighting only once in the 17 month's isn't the way to go about furthering your career. You can't just sit, and wait on Charlo any any other fighter to face you.
You have to go after the next available fighter that is willing to fight you, otherwise you're going to rusty, stale, and be ill prepared for the big fight when it does materialize.
