Comments Thread For: Gervonta Davis Praises Floyd Mayweather, Crowns Him As The Best Ever

Pounding away at the heavy bag until it screams no mas and working meticulously on his craft with head trainer Calvin Ford, isn't quite enough for Gervonta Davis. For the 28-year-old knockout puncher from Baltimore, Maryland, he's always believed that in order to ensure that his future was bright, he needed to study the past.

      Quote Floyd:

"Tank is a hell of a fighter, a tough competitor, he said he wanted to be on his own, we agreed and wished him nothing but the best.

We always want what's best for these young fighters.

I mean, I never watched old footage of my dad or Roger, but once again, Tank has to do what's best for Tank.

      God bless "

Let’s just be real, Floyd had perfect birth timing and had he been around at 140 with Pryor, or 147 with Hearns, Leonard or even Trinidad I can’t say he would have been undefeated but I will say he could compete with any time period in boxing. He’s not a Sugar Ray Robinson so let’s not get carried away!

Floyd is one of the greats for sure. It is likely that more than one fighter from the past would beat Floyd but we will never know. But betting against Duran, Leonard, Robinson, and many other greats is foolhardy.

I hope the matches don't begin to feature a ton of running and hugging.

Floyd would box Tito's head off and I actually think the Floyd we saw at 140, briefly, was the very best version of him as far as his physical prime.
