I have now gone through some of those interviews again and am more informed. I must say my initial reaction was Usyk is willing and Fury ducked. Now that I look back at everything, not so. Fury/Warren keeping quiet is what caused them a bad name.
Fury offering Usyk 70-30 is more than what AJ offered him and his belts have earned him that. A rematch at 50-50 would be similar to what he got from AJ. I can understand why Usyk is upset because you think your profile is raised after winning and why you should be getting the same offer. But the major point is that offers are based on perceived monetary value, not necessarily belts. Besides, Fury has better lucrative alternate fights compared to Usyk so Usyk is not in the driver's seat here.
It is more a clash of egos than anyone ducking the other. I can see where each party is coming from and it makes sense to them to say what they are saying. Ultimately, a Saudi/UAE that deals will both parties independently is the best bet that avoids hurting everyone's ego.

I think the issue team Usyk has is that Fury keeps making new demands when things have already been agreed.
Fury is a con artist who faked mental health issues to garner sympathy whilst quietly ride out his suspension which no one ever talks about.
The man's resume is garbage and if you say 'Wilder x 3' look at Wilder's resume... it's also garbage.
Fury needs to retire and eat himself to death.JayCho likes this.

I dont trust fury now
Many argue there shouldnt even be rematch clauses when you face mandatory opponents, let alone 50/50 splits for it.
In my opinion that's not any better than what Fury demanded
A guy works his way into a mandatory position, you negotiate a rematch when it's not usually required for mandatory fights, the same **** Wlad used to get criticised for, the guy takes all your belts and then you get 50/50 in the rematch
Hearn said they were willing to drop the WBO belt if Usyk didn't sign the rematch clause deal but Usyk did because the money was better to fight AJ than a vacant title fight.
So they held Usyk over a barrell, demanded 50/50 of a rematch from a mandatory fight.
Really no better than Fury's demandsLast edited by deathofaclown; 03-28-2023, 07:31 AM.

Joshua/Hearn probably did threaten to drop the belt. They probably also threatened to just fight once for the minimum mandatory split and that's all Usyk would get. Usyk probably threatened to force the fight to purse bids unless the money was right. They both would have played every card they had.
The difference is, both parties got the fight made. They both gave, they both took, and landed on a pretty reasonable deal given Usyk was a beltless mandatory. Usyk wanted Joshua's belts and so did Joshua. So they fought for them.
It's incredible to think that the best Usyk could do in the voluntary Fury negotiations, holding three belts and two current great wins, was 30%... and 50/50 if he fought a voluntary defence as an Undisputed champion.
It can't be defended as 'the same'. It's a different situation.

The silver lining here for fans is that we get to see some grease hit the tracks now. If Usyk and Fury danced around on this whole matter, and no doubt a rematch was part of the discussion, then compelling up-and-comers would be parked for a year or more. Now we have Usyk ready to face what appears to be Dubois and/or Hrgovic. Hopefully his time off isnt more than four months. I don't know where a guy like Fury goes from here. My fear is a 4th Wilder match. I'd like to see him go the route of a new frontier, and if the wheels don't come off Joyce, THAT would be what I want to see. How much recoup time would Joyce need after Zhang, should he prevail (no guarantee)? What does Fury do in the meantime? If I were a bettin' man he'd look at somebody like....Joseph Parker (not that I wanna see it).Last edited by Hooded Terror; 03-28-2023, 10:26 AM.

Usyk took 20-80 to get AJ the first time. Then 50-50 in the rematch.
I dont get why he turned down 30-70 with Fury and 50-50 for the rematch. That is better deal than last time.
Now beltless AJ is going to demand 50-50 with Fury. here we go.
