Comments Thread For: De La Hoya: I'm Telling Crawford, 'Let Me Help You In Making The Errol Spence Fight Happen'

Stop wasting your time, if Crawford really wanted to take on a challenge he already would of done it long time ago. This guy is been a pro how long? And what big fights has he looked for? Crawford is all talk, he wants to fight guys that present no danger. I mean I'm not a Ryan Garcia fan but he took the short end of the stick in order to face Tank, why? Because Garcia knows that he needs to take less now because if he wins, it will lead to more money, it's something fighters have been doing through out history to get the fights they need in order to become a bigger name, it's not rocket science. Diva Crawford wants the easy road to big money fights..... -
Crawford might as well ride to GBP. There's not much elsewhere he can go and DLH has shown that he can work with PBC so f$#& it. None of these guys are ducking each other. Gotta blame these promoters for paying these dudes M's to fight lesser opposition as the reason big fights ain't happening. Now all these dudes think they're superstars bc of how bad some of these promoters f%#$@d the market up. Can't blame the fighters for taking advantage of the situation in such an unforgiving sport.Leave a comment:

Please. Oscar got dropped & hurt by much lesser punchers, imagine what Spence or Bud would've done with him. I don't think Crawford is the same fighter he was back in 2018/2019, looks slowed down. But prime vs prime, Oscar wouldn't beat Bud. Might catch him, might stun him but that's it. I think Spence would stop Oscar with a body-shot.
Oscar didn't look good against a past prime Pernell Whittaker in a fight most thought he lost. Didn't look good against Ike Quartey either in a fight that could've gone either way..got knocked down and hurt in that fight too. Quartey fight was one he called the toughest fight he had been in at the time, after the fight. Oscar was getting gifts against Felix Sturm & getting stopped by 40 year old B-Hop when he was 31-32 years of age, around Spence's age.
Great fight & a HOF but not an ATG in the slightest. Great career early on, no denying. But from aged 27+ till he retired he lost almost every big fight he was in.Last edited by messi807; 03-09-2023, 04:12 PM.Leave a comment:

It's sad to see how far De La Hoya has fallen. Most of the things he says really feel like he's grasping for relevance.
I figure there's blame on both sides, but c'mon. One guy left the stadium after the other guy beat Porter; didn't even want to get in the ring and start selling a possible mega fight. Leaving aside whatever happened during negotiations, that same guy is now fighting a guy he swore he'd never fight, and not even at 147, which shouldn't even satisfy his mandatory obligations. In the meantime, the other guy will likely have his second fight at 147 in about the same time frame. Which one of those guys actually wants the fight?Leave a comment:

I feel like that's because of the fault of OVER paying fighters these days. Why would they risk a loss and status of future mega checks against a great fighter than continue to milk against lower tier opposition for the same money?
Definitely agree with you that a prime De La Hoya beats both Spence and Crawford. But, clearly you think that it's Bud who is the one holding up their potential fight, and he deserves the criticism for it, but Spence (and his management) are equally to blame. And, while they are doing great financially, if they care about their legacies, then they have to fight. Because right now, they will be considered as a tier below ATG status. But, maybe they don't care about that, and only care about money.
I'm not saying giving boxers UFC pay, but 2-3 million dollar paychecks for non-PPV fight is absurd. Even PPV fights against bum opponents, they don't deserve that amount. They really need to restructure the pay format because as long as they get monster pay checks against easy opposition, there is no incentive to take a chance.
Back in the "hardcore" days, it was more like, you get paid according to moving up in the rankings and facing the better guys. You literally had to face a the top guys to get a huge paycheck when you hit that mega PPV fight.Leave a comment:

I think you are half right. One wanted the fight so much that he was willing to give away any chance he might have had to win it. The other was willing to accept that gift.

Garcia v Davis is the real deal, these guys are old school they want the fight ...Spence and Crawford has gone stale ,one 33 one knocking on 36!Leave a comment:

There's no shame in saying that lol everyone who knows boxing knows a prime De La Hoya would've beat both most likely by KO. If Egis and Gamboa can hurt Crawford and Porter and Ugas can hurt Spence without a doubt a left hook would hurt them both at 147 or 154.
