  • Comments Thread For: Robert Garcia Says He Doesn't Regret Making Critical Comments About Anthony Joshua

Robert Garcia is standing by some harsh, if honest, words he made not long ago regarding his former client, former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua. Garcia, the veteran trainer out of Riverside, California, drew headlines last year after he described his then-charge as

He was beaten in first fight in the tournament v Savon. That should’ve been a clear loss.

But he could've kept those comments between him and AJ

            Nothing Roberto stated was harsh..

Boxingscene playing their favs as they typically do..

AJ looked the best he has in years under Roberto, who was placed in an impossible position going straight into a fight with Usyk with not one fight in-between against a avg at best fighter like Franklin to work out any kinks or build trust together.

Garcia might not regret it, but he didn't have to say anything, unless it was something to encourage Joshua for the future. Any constructive criticism could have come in training camp for his next fight, instead he's going to miss on that Joshua bread because he couldn't help running his mouth to the press. He's the elder and trainer, how can he train and mentor his fighter to do the correct things, if the trainer doesn't think before he acts or speaks? Also, as an adult, he really had the gall to used the juvenile excuse of, "Everyone else was saying it, too." C'mon Garcia, be better.

It seems Joshua has been coddled his entire boxing career. The reality is Joshua is an average HW in a weak era. Instead of throwing fits when he loses, Joshua should come to the realization that Hearn's cleaver matchmaking and marketing made him wealthy for generations.

It's doesn't matter who trains Joshua. He will never beat Usyk even if he was born again and train all his life for that fight. He is a body builder. Slow and basic boxing skills. Not enought creativity. His power carried him this far, same goes for Wilder. If it wasn't for their power they would be average boxers, skill wise.
