Comments Thread For: Jack Catterall, Shohjahon Ergashev: IBF Sends Invitation Letters For Proposed Title Eliminator

The pursuit begins to find a willing challenger for Subriel Matias. Or, at least a mandatory contender. BoxingScene.com has learned that the International Boxing Federation (IBF) has sent out an invitation to junior welterweight contenders Jack Catterall and Shohjahon Ergashev for a planned title eliminator. Representatives for both boxers three days from Wednesday to accept or decline the opportunity.

Intriguing fight. Let's see how serious both guys are. I would favor Catterall ever slightly.

Damn shame Catterall has to jump through so many hoops like this. Boxing needs fixing.

Good fight I'd watch it, Catterall deserves some compensation after they did him dirty twice.

From challenging for the undisputed to challenging for the rematch lone title to having to fight an eliminator. Catterall really got fv0ck

I know Jack got screwed in the first fight, I saw it and I think I had it for him by around 3 or 4 points.

But, it doesnt look like a rematch is happening and Taylor has at least scheduled a tough go in Teo.

Jack cant live off of his loss forever and should start fighting a contender or two.

300%. Figure it. Jack deserved a 2nd crack at ALL of the titles. Instead he hitches his wagon to Taylor, who jettisons all but one belt, then over the course of several false starts, realizes he's suddenly behind Teofimo Lopez. Moving on with his career, he now has to fight an eliminator for a mandatory. Do ANY of these sanctioning bodies have ANY asense of integrity?

Catterall will duck and keep crying about his loss like he has for the past year. Living off a defeat.

I really hope that Catterall takes this fight, Ergashev is a formidable opponent that will give everything he has. I don't know who would win, but it would be an exciting fight.

Poor Catterall, even if he wins the eliminator, his reward is to get thumped by Mattias for much less money than he would have got from a Taylor rematch.
