Comments Thread For: Haye: If Joshua Can't Blast Out Franklin in Three or Four - He's Doing Something Wrong!

Former two division champion David Haye expects Anthony Joshua to pull off an impressive, dominant win in a planned fight against heavyweight contender Jermaine Franklin. Joshua, who is looking to bounce back after losing consecutive fights to Oleksandr Usyk, is scheduled to return on April 1 at the O2 Arena in London.

I always hate comments like this; it's as if the other fighter doesn't even exist. What if Franklin refuses to go down in 3 or 4 rounds?

I would say a stoppage between rounds 7-8 would be a top performance.

A stoppage win, and without losing a single round. That is the type of performance, I would expect from Joshua.

Franklin has proven himself to be a solid fighter, with his performance vs Whyte.

Stylistically, it is a fight which should help Joshua get a violent win. Franklin is a aggressive and game fighter.

But is movement, defense and long range game is not really world level.

Lets all be honest? Tyson Fury was not beating up Whyte when they fought. Fury was winning the fight before the stoppage, but he was by no means dominating Whyte.

It was a underwhelming performance from Fury, up until the knock- out blow 'Whyte was fighting a bad fight, but was still in the fight'.

For Haye to come out and make a statement like this? Show's the standard Anthony Joshua is still being held at.

I think a good performance, would be a stoppage within 7-8 rounds 'Beating Franklin up and not dropping a single round throughout the fight'.

They don't know what people want. They really don't.

He’s right if Joshua is actually trying to blast him out . Joshua blasting him out though would defeat the purpose of being under a new trainer and just getting rounds in . Otherwise I don’t see the point of this fight which is exactly that ,to get rounds in get comfortable with whatever they worked on in training camp etc . Franklin is a perfect opponent to carry and get a late stoppage on .

Joshua with that frail chin of his could very well get caught.
If I'm Franklin, I try to take AJ out early.
Both guys just need to let their hands go.
But I'm happy to see Franklin getting a good paycheck to feed his family.

Joshua should prepare for more rounds. A boxer who fought Whyte and did not get knocked out is a durable boxer.

Yeah, frail chin. Never been knocked out, but never mind that.

After the ring 'breakdown' and yet another trainer Joshua needs all the confidence he can get and this guy should be ideal , a small stocky fighter with little pop .
