Comments Thread For: Robert Garcia Stands Firm That Joshua Needs To Train in United States

Veteran coach Robert Garcia clarified that heavyweight contender Anthony Joshua personally advised him about his plans to travel to the United States to visit other trainers. However, AJ never actually told him that they would no longer work together.

I hate to go there but he literally needs 1-2 fights with a whole new system with total obsolete training. Like hagler did. No broads no internet just everything that comes with real training. Training, body recovery therapy, proper meals, proper rest etc

Joshua needs to see the sights, California has climate, but Joshua is on the shady side of the hill. Cali won't turn back the clock.

Joshua needs to retire. The man doesn't want to fight. He only says he does so Eddie doesn't look bad. They can't keep this up though. Everyone is on to them.

I see Garcia as a good trainer , he talks sense and has a decent track record but Joshua is looking for his third trainer in as many fights , would he be better off with what he's always been comfortable with training in England or the risk something he doesn't know ...look at what the most successful guy in the division does he has Joe Parker in camp and fighters like Anderson , Joyce and Franklin and trains at home in sunny Morecambe .

Joshua's issue is he's basically an introvert, Riakporhe as good as confirmed it, he just comes in does his work in the gym and goes home ignoring other people in the camp...

If what Riakprohe says is true than the implication is that Joshua is always faking being approachable to media and fans and such which must be mentally and psychically exhausting and he'll likely struggle to find a coach who can/is willing to deal with that kind of behavior.

It's extremely abnormal, particularly for a public figure like AJ and will bring down the atmosphere of a gym, which in turn will potentially jeopardise relations with the coach and other fighters, especially if they're prioritising AJ over them.

And I most certainly wouldn't want to risk fracturing my gym for a guy who's changing his coaches every other fight.
