Comments Thread For: John Ryder Working On Tactics For Possible Canelo Showdown

A close yet disputed loss at the hands of Callum Smith in 2019 seemed to seal John Ryder's fate as a gatekeeper. With five defeats already laced across his record, his dreams of one day winning a world title had gone by the wayside. However, armed with steely determination, Ryder (32-5, 18 KOs) turned things around.

Every bit the trash waste of time as Fury-Chisora. Watch the 3 or 4 remaining Hearn fluffers defend it.

I highly doubt Ryder gets the fight. Canelo haters would disagree and believe he’s getting canelo. Surprised Ryder also defeated jacobs. He can’t be too bad. I’d rather see rosado land the assignment rather than John Ryder

You’re right although it was a bad enough fight for nobody to care that much. Smiths robbery of Ryder was worse

DAZN needs to step in here and stop acting like Canelo is the network’s CEO. It needs to tell Canelo it has no interest in a Ryder fight, wherever it would be. It also needs to tell Hearn and Oscar that it pays them a lot of money to be its in-house promoters and the fight it wants for Cinqo de Mayo 2023 is Canelo-Munguia - and that Hearn and Golden Boy need to get it done by whatever means necessary.

(And don’t tell me it can’t be done because Canelo is 168 and Munguia is 160 - DAZN was able to get a fight between Benn and Eubank scheduled, right? And don’t tell me one of the sanctioning bodies wouldn’t do what’s necessary to allow Canelo to fight Munguia for his title - they would.)

Canelo-Munguia is the perfect fight for May - it is PPV worthy, would sell out the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas and would have so many great storylines (Mexico v. Mexico, Hearn v. Oscar, Oscar v. Canelo, etc).

if Hearn wants to get butt hurt about not being able to gift Ryder a “life-changing” payday he hasn’t really earned, DAZN should say “We don’t care - you can put Ryder on the undercard.”

DAZN needs to take its business back from divas like Canelo, moochers like Munguia (who’s happy to waste time and take DAZN’s money fighting mismatches) and carnival barkers like Hearn - and forcing through a Canelo-Munguia fight is the best way to get right.

Just when I think Canelo has dried out the well of Brits to pick on, another one comes out of nowhere to become the front runner. Meanwhile, everyone else that poses an actual threat has to hear how they don’t deserve the fight with canelo.

He's a pretty good fighter, Ryder.

                  No chance against Canelo.

He should also work out his budget and plans of how to use all that money wisely, once hitting the Canelo jackpot.
