According to a story first reported by the Washington Post, boxing could be dropped from the 2024 Paris Olympics. The IOC sent a firm warning in a statement Thursday, that some of the recent decisions that were made by the International Boxing Association (IBA) could lead to "the cancellation of boxing" for the 2024 Paris Games. The IBA is the amateur boxing governing body.

the olympic boxing has always been even more crooked than the pros. As a small child my dad took me to an international event vs I think Poland, and we demolished them every fight, but the last fight they gave it to the Pole even tho he got a serious one sided beatdown. That's when he explained to me that politics is just as important as the boxer in deciding boxing outcomes.

Sounds like the IBA is all over the place they just need to have another boxing commission have the rights to boxing in the Olympics it's all ready too rigged as is.

A number of fighters have been robbed of the gold medal.

Notable fighters who became greats in the pro's, namely Roy Jones Jr and Holyfield. I'm not sure if Floyd was robbed, but there was talk about that decision as well.

In other words amateur boxing is just as fcuked up and corrupt as pro boxing. There needs to be federal oversight here in the states. Too many commissions, too many belts, too many questionable scorecards.

What a shame. I used to go to the University of Hawaii basketball games when I was a kid and I followed guard Tom Henderson. When they ripped of the 1972 US men's basketball team that he was on to let Russia win was when I first learned about corruption. I couldn't believe it when they disqualified Evander Holyfield in the 1984 games but the worst was when they gave the decision to Park Si-Hun instead of Roy Jones Jr. I still watch the Olympics because I enjoy watching athletes but I am never surprised by who wins or loses. I wonder how the corruption was in the original ancient Olympics?

Boxing needs to be in the Olympics. It will suffer if not. Time for the great and the good to start using their time for something useful.

EXACTLY. The credibility of pro boxing has been in decline for decades, how many other sports have multiple 'Champions'?
Argentina have just won the FIFA soccer world cup, are there any rival organisations that recognise England, Japan, or Ghana instead?

Pro and amateur boxing need a much needed overhaul, will it happen in my lifetime? I've taken the precaution of not holding my breath....
